Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaielle Martin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Smoothée Bar was created in 2020 from a passion for wellness, creativity, and building something meaningful for my family and community. As a mom of four, I wanted to create healthier options that still felt exciting, flavorful, and enjoyable. I’ve always loved the idea of making wellness feel approachable rather than restrictive.
What started as a simple idea gradually evolved into a mobile wellness brand centered around smoothies, juices, bowls, vegan milkshakes, and fresh products designed to bring people together. In the early stages, I started by selling drinks to coworkers through my husband’s job, where people began placing weekly orders and helping me discover which products were becoming customer favorites. As demand continued growing, my husband and I started setting up at pop-ups and along the BeltLine with a table, blender, cooler, music, and fresh products — often with my kids right there beside me on hot Atlanta days. Those early experiences helped build the community support and confidence that eventually pushed me to expand into the truck and continue growing the vision for Smoothée Bar.
I’ve always been drawn to branding and presentation, so from the beginning I wanted Smoothée Bar to feel vibrant, welcoming, and memorable. Like many entrepreneurs, the journey came with a lot of learning in real time — balancing motherhood, business ownership, events, logistics, and the many moving parts that come with running a mobile business. There were definitely moments that required patience, adaptability, and faith along the way.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the support system behind me throughout this journey, especially my husband, who believed in the vision from the very beginning. From helping me test products and promote the business early on to supporting events and helping open doors for new opportunities — including my first film set opportunity at Tyler Perry Studios — his encouragement played a meaningful role in helping Smoothée Bar grow from an idea into a real business.
Over time, the business has continued to grow through community events, pop-ups, partnerships, and word-of-mouth. One of the most rewarding parts has been seeing people genuinely connect with what we’re building and the experiences we create through the brand.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I think that’s part of entrepreneurship. One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to build and grow a business while balancing motherhood, family life, and the many responsibilities that come with owning a mobile business.
There are so many moving parts behind the scenes that people don’t always see — scheduling, permits, inventory, event preparation, equipment, weather, customer service, and constantly adapting in real time. Running a mobile business requires flexibility and problem-solving every single day.
Another challenge has been learning the business side as I go. When you build something from the ground up, you end up wearing many different hats at once, from marketing and branding to operations and customer experience. There has definitely been a lot of trial and error along the way, but every challenge has helped me grow into a more confident and intentional business owner.
I’ve also worked hard to build a brand that feels professional, elevated, and memorable while still being approachable and community-centered. Even through the challenges, I’ve stayed committed to the vision because I genuinely love creating experiences for people and seeing the way customers connect with the brand. Every event, customer interaction, and lesson learned has played a role in helping Smoothée Bar continue to grow.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Smoothée Bar is a mobile wellness brand centered around smoothies, fresh juices, açaí bowls, vegan milkshakes, wellness-focused treats, and creative plant-based offerings designed to make healthy options feel exciting and approachable. What started as a passion project has evolved into a brand focused on blending wellness, flavor, creativity, and experience together in a way that feels both modern and community-driven.
One thing that sets Smoothée Bar apart is the balance between wellness and indulgence. I wanted to create a brand where people don’t feel like they have to choose between healthy and enjoyable. From colorful smoothie blends and fresh bowls to vegan milkshakes and frozen treats, the goal has always been to create products that feel vibrant, memorable, and fun while still aligning with a wellness-focused lifestyle.
Branding and presentation have also been very important to me from the beginning. I’ve intentionally worked to create a business that feels visually appealing, welcoming, and elevated while still remaining approachable for families, events, and everyday customers. Whether we’re serving at community events, private bookings, wellness initiatives, or pop-ups, I want people to walk away remembering both the experience and the quality of what they received.
I’m especially proud of how the brand has evolved visually and creatively over time. Seeing people connect with the aesthetic, the energy, and the overall concept behind Smoothée Bar has been incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud that the business reflects so many parts of who I am — wellness, motherhood, creativity, entrepreneurship, and community all blended into one brand.
More than anything, I want readers to know that Smoothée Bar is about creating experiences that feel good, taste good, and bring people together. The vision has always been bigger than just smoothies — it’s about building a lifestyle brand that people genuinely enjoy connecting with.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
One thing I’ve learned is that networking becomes much more natural when you focus on building genuine relationships instead of simply trying to gain something from people. Some of the most valuable connections I’ve made have come from showing up consistently, being open to conversations, attending community events, collaborating with other business owners, and simply putting myself out there — even while still figuring things out along the way.
I also believe mentorship can come in many different forms. Sometimes it’s a formal mentor relationship, but other times it’s learning from people you admire through observation, conversation, social media, business experiences, or simply being in spaces where growth and entrepreneurship are happening. I’ve learned a lot from watching how other business owners build their brands, navigate challenges, and stay consistent.
What has worked well for me is staying authentic and being intentional about the type of energy and relationships I want around my business. I’ve found that when you genuinely support others, stay open to learning, and continue refining your craft, the right opportunities and connections tend to grow naturally over time.
I’d also encourage people not to wait until everything is perfect before networking or pursuing opportunities. A lot of growth comes from simply starting, learning in real time, and allowing yourself the space to evolve along the journey.
