Hi Truth Teller Productions , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Miriam A. Hyman aka Robyn Hood is an actress, lyricist, writer, producer and the CEO of music/production label Truth Teller Productions. She’s a Philadelphia native and began her career in theater. Upon graduating grad school from the David Geffen School of Drama affectionately known as Yale School of Drama with her MFA in Acting, she started doing off-Broadway theater in NYC. She’s graced the stages of theaters like The Public, Manhattan Theater Club, Classical Theater of Harlem, La MaMa and more. She soon began doing more tv/film and has appeared in many productions such as The Wire, Law & Order, Conviction, NCIS, The OA, Grey’s Anatomy, Hostages, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and more. In addition she has recurred as a guest star for several seasons on Blue Bloods and The Chi. You can also catch her on Starz’s hit series Power Book IV Force as series regular US Attorney Stacy Marks. Among some of her films, she’s starred in The Sun is Also a Star, The Laundromat, Brittany Runs a Marathon, Angel and The Lost Holliday. Simultaneously, Hyman/Hood has been building her repertoire as a lyricist and writer collaborating with artists such as Ciara, Daveed Diggs, Lupita Nyong’o, Common and more. After a few years of brewing in the music industry, she decided to create opportunities for herself and other upcoming musicians by establishing the music/production label Truth Teller Productions where she and her team assist in advancing the careers of emerging artists.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road with challenges appearing here and there but Hyman/Hood has always found the positive in any situation and continues to thrive even when undesirable conditions may appear.

Truth Teller Productions is a boutique label that helps artists to grow in their artistry and supports them in their creative development. We provide guidance, direction, promotion, song collaborations, performance opportunities, distribution, placements, merch and professional recording, photo/ video content, and writing/music production. TTP is different from other labels in that we work closely with artists that we represent. We are a hands on company building with creatives daily and assisting them to accomplish their goals. We are very selective and don’t aim to have a large number of artists in our family but a few specific individuals that are about quality music construction and a collective focus.

Any big plans?
TTP is constantly growing the team. We aim to bring on talented writers, producers, engineers, lyricists and overall creatives that have drive and multi disciplinary attributes. A music studio of our own is in the works and we are super excited about that venture. It will create revenue for the business and eliminate the costs of renting music studios for future projects.
