Today we’d like to introduce you to James Thompson.

Hi James, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey to building Launch Wave Media began long before the company itself existed. As a teenager, I started booking local shows for my cousin and me, which eventually evolved into a successful run as an independent artist. That experience gave me an early understanding of branding, audience engagement, promotion, and the business side of entertainment.

When I decided to close that chapter of my career, a friend encouraged me to step into artist management.
During that season, I experienced both successes and setbacks, but each opportunity sharpened my understanding of the industry and strengthened my vision for the future.

In 2020, I was introduced to an incredibly talented songwriter who I believed had everything it took to succeed at a high level in the music industry. That moment became a turning point for me. I realized I didn’t just want to manage talent, I wanted to build a company that could help creatives develop, position, and launch their vision strategically.

That vision ultimately became Launch Wave Media.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, Like most entrepreneurs in the entertainment and media industry, I’ve experienced more setbacks than I can count. But one thing I’ve learned is that success in this space requires resilience, adaptability, and the ability to keep moving forward even when things don’t go as planned.

Along the way, I’ve invested time, energy, and resources into helping develop other people and projects, and not every situation produced the outcome I envisioned. Some partnerships worked, others didn’t, but every experience taught me valuable lessons about leadership, business, relationships, and the importance of building with the right people.

Those challenges helped shape my mindset as a founder and strengthened my commitment , to building Launch Wave Media with clarity, purpose, and long term vision.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I began my career in artist management, which naturally evolved into A&R and eventually expanded into executive and production roles. Over the years, I’ve built a reputation for connecting strong creative environments, and helping develop records that resonate.

One of my greatest strengths has been the ability to bring talented individuals together and create opportunities for meaningful collaboration. Through that process, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside incredible artists, producers, and creatives while contributing to the development of impactful music and lasting professional relationships.

What I’m most proud of, however, is being able to play a role in an artist growth, not only in their career, but as professionals and individuals. I believe what truly sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the people I work with. My focus has never been solely on helping artist and producers succeed in the industry, but also on helping them build sustainable, fulfilling lives beyond the business.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What brings me the most fulfillment is seeing people recognize their potential and achieve the goals they once only dreamed about. Being able to contribute to someone’s growth, confidence, and success is incredibly rewarding to me because it confirms that I’ve fulfilled my purpose as a leader and creative executive.

At the core of everything I do is service. Whether it’s developing talent, creating opportunities, or helping someone see the greatness within themselves, I believe my responsibility is to add value in whatever capacity I can. That impact, watching people grow personally and professionally, is what truly makes me happy.
