Today we’d like to introduce you to Miazia Simone.

Hi Miazia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began playing in make-up as a child and grew up realizing college was not for me. I was nervous to tell my single mother that I did not wish to pursue higher education from an academic standpoint. As high school was ending I struggled with making a decision that I thought would be acceptable. As I approached the next steps my mother encouraged me to follow my passion and choose happiness over status quo. I completed a 12 month esthetician program towards state licensure and complete make up and special effects courses with industry professionals which landed me private make-up clients , stage and movie studio set gigs as well as many esthetics clients preforming services such as body waxing, facials, chemical peels, and lash & brow tints. Now I spend my days doing what I’ve loved doing since a kid all while beautifying clients from the outside in to aid in raising self esteem and confidence.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled with imposter syndrome being the youngest on set as my career started straight out of high school. This caused me to initially seem shy on set. I find my confidence growing with each gig which aids in my ability to make needed connections to grow within the entertainment industry so my work and professionalism can precede me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an esthetician/ beauty and sfx artist. I do all kinds of beauty makeup as well as all things gore such as burns, bruises, cuts, wounds along with zombies, werewolves, and vampires. I also sculpt and mold make for various films and projects.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Attending professional events and offering support to others. Socializing without hesitation and holding space in rooms has allowed me opportunities to ask questions and gain pro tips.
