Meet Sheena “Chef Gemini” Simpson of Gold Plated Catering LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena “Chef Gemini” Simpson.

Hi Sheena “Chef Gemini”, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a kid I loved watching the late Julia Childs and Justin Wilson on GPTV every Saturday. I’d study their technique like the proper student. As I grew up I’d lock in on the Chefs of the time. The Iron Chef’s to the master’s chef and now the Gordon Ramsay’s Next Level’s chef. I’ve always understood food but people not so much! I’ve admired Anthony Boudin and I’ve always wanted to share my favorite thing with the masses. So, I started my simple but humble catering and personal chef company “Gold Plated Catering LLC.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely been rough but the experience and errors have been educational. Experience is definitely the best teacher.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Gold Plated Catering LLC?
Gold Plated Catering is a catering & personal chef brand founded by me, Chef Gemini St’James (Chef G)! We are a small black owned business out of Metro Atlanta specializing in southern staples with a Korean inspiration on an upscale level. I view food as art in the flavor form and pulls from many different flavors, and styles of cooking. Korean flavors are my favorite but I also love making Hennessy wings we do it all! The thing that I’m most proud of is the fact that I’m able to view the scope of food from two different viewpoints. From the lenses of a chef that sees food as a canvas for flavor. And also through a baker’s eyes. My ability to understand the science of baking and execute it just as astoundingly as a beautiful recipe.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like the absolute best about the city is the food scene. The food is amazing and there’s a lot of options to choose from. What I like least about the city is definitely the traffic. It’s absolutely insane.
