Rising Stars: Meet Mohogany of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mohogany.

Mohogany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started rapping in 2023 during one of the lowest points in my life. Music became more than just something I enjoyed — it became an outlet for everything I was dealing with emotionally and mentally at the time. I’ve always been musically inclined growing up, but I never fully saw myself stepping into artistry the way I eventually did.

Once I started recording and expressing myself through music, I realized I had a real talent for it. What began as a way to cope quickly turned into something I became deeply passionate about. From that point on, I decided to take music seriously and fully invest in myself as an artist. Every song I create reflects pieces of my journey, my growth, and the experiences that shaped me into who I am today.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest struggles I faced coming into music was entering a scene where a lot of people didn’t fully embrace me because I was new. At times, it felt like people were more focused on copying my aura, style, and energy instead of genuinely supporting what I brought to the table as an artist. Navigating that was challenging because when you’re building your name from the ground up, you quickly learn that originality stands out — but it can also make people uncomfortable.

Even through those experiences, I stayed true to myself and never changed who I was to fit in. I learned that authenticity will always carry further than imitation. Those struggles pushed me to work harder, stay consistent, and build confidence in my own lane. Over time, I realized that being different was actually my strength, and that’s what continues to separate me as an artist today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself a well-rounded artist known as the “East Atlanta Princess,” and I take a lot of pride in my versatility. One thing people know about me is that I can get on almost any beat and make magic happen. I never like to place myself in a box creatively, and I think that ability to adapt while still staying true to my sound is what makes me stand out.

Since starting my journey in 2023, I’ve grown so much both personally and artistically. Looking back, I’m proud of the improvements I’ve made in my sound, confidence, and overall creativity. Every experience has helped shape me into a stronger artist. What truly sets me apart is my versatility and my willingness to keep learning, evolving, and pushing myself to grow with every project I create.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The advice I would give to other artists starting out is to always keep God first and stay true to yourself no matter what. The music industry can make people feel pressured to follow trends or become someone they’re not, but authenticity will always take you further in the long run. Believe in your vision and trust the process, even during the moments when things feel uncertain.

I also think it’s important to continue learning new things and finding different ways to create. Growth is a huge part of becoming a better artist, and being open to evolving can take your craft to another level. Most importantly, carry confidence into every room you step into because you’re there for a reason. Never shrink yourself or doubt your place — your talent, energy, and purpose opened those doors for you.
