Meet Max Wavee of National

Today we’d like to introduce you to Max Wavee.

Hi Max, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I got my official start in music when I went away for college and attended Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, New York and got accepted to its prestigious music program. I took advantage of the fact that music majors had access to professional studios on campus and recorded most of my early stuff with my peers at the time. Gaining an audience organically on and off the internet gave me the confidence to continue releasing music and sharing my story with the world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road as an independent artist. There are moments when l would see a large spike in my streaming numbers on songs that I wasn’t expecting to hit and there are moments when I would pour my heart on a record and it didn’t go as far as I wanted to go. It’s really just finding a balance of catering to my audience while also making the type of of music that I enjoy listening to. Some other personal struggles I faced along the way is losing friends and family and learning how to just stand on my own while chasing this goal of mine to be the biggest artist in the world because at the end of the day nobody coming to save you. You’re the only person that could get you to where you want to go in life. It’s nobody’s responsibility but yours to make things happen.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m Max Wavee, an independent artist focused on making music that blends real life storytelling, emotion, and energy. I specialize in hip-hop and melodic rap, creating records that can connect emotionally while still feeling authentic and relatable. A lot of my music touches on growth, mental health, loss, ambition, and coming from difficult environments while trying to build something bigger.

What I’m most proud of is staying consistent and building everything independently — from releasing music and visuals to networking, performing, and growing my brand organically. I’ve also been able to turn personal experiences into music that people genuinely connect with.

What sets me apart is my versatility and honesty. I can make motivational records, emotional storytelling tracks, or high-energy anthems while still keeping my sound authentic. I focus on creating music with substance, not just trends, and I approach my work with a strong vision and long-term mindset.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
currently have a new double album in the works titled Love & War, coming soon to all streaming platforms. The project represents both sides of my artistry that listeners connect with most — the melodic, emotional love records and the raw, aggressive storytelling tracks filled with vulnerability and real-life experiences.
