Today we’d like to introduce you to Carina Thomas.
Hi Carina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a wife and a mother of six children.
I have my bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration. I’ve always been drawn to the accounting field there’s something about working with financials, understanding it, talking about it, that just excites me.
I started my career in corporate accounting and then at an accounting firm. But I knew I wanted more control over my work and my impact, so I branched off on my own. I started with tax preparation and insurance work, and eventually opened our own accounting firm.
Tax preparation was the entry point, but it revealed something deeper: I actually loved helping businesses. Once I started doing tax prep, I began working with business owners on their growth, looking at their numbers, helping them understand where they were and where they could go. That’s when I realized I was doing CFO work without calling it that.
That’s where I fell in love. Advisory work. Helping businesses build sustainable, profitable businesses where they’re not trapped by their own growth, where they understand their cash, and where they actually get their life back. That realization changed everything, and it’s what I’m passionate about today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, there have been struggles along the way. The biggest one was finding my identity.
I had so many different skill sets tax prep, accounting, business advising and I could do all of them. But that was actually the problem. I didn’t know which direction to focus on, and that uncertainty held me back.
It took time in business to figure out that I was actually doing CFO work and loving it. That’s when everything clicked. I finally understood: This is what I want to do. These are the people I want to help businesses and home care agency owners building sustainable businesses. Once I got clear on that identity, everything changed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Everlife I help home care agency owners stop flying blind with their finances and start running their business like the CEO they already are.
I work exclusively with established home care agency owners doing $2M or more in revenue. These are owners who have built something real, they have staff, clients, and momentum but their bank account doesn’t reflect the work they’re putting in. That’s the gap I close.
What I specialize in is CFO-level financial strategy specifically for the home care industry. Not generic accounting. Not bookkeeping. Strategic financial leadership, the kind that helps an owner understand exactly where their money is going, whether their growth is actually profitable, and what they need to do to protect and build their cash position.
What sets me apart is the combination of deep industry focus and a framework built around real outcomes. My entire approach is built around four things: Clarity, Confidence, Control, and Cashflow. Owners come to me confused and leave with a clear financial picture, a plan they can act on, and a CFO in their corner who speaks their language.
What I’m most proud of is that my clients don’t just get better numbers they get a better business and a better life. That’s the promise, and I take it seriously.
If you own an established home care agency and your revenue looks good on paper but your cash position tells a different story that’s exactly who I built this for.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Yes, I have had mentors who saw something in me before I fully saw it in myself. Their investment in my growth shaped the way I think, the way I lead, and the standard I hold myself to with every client. I am grateful for that foundation.
One person who absolutely deserves credit is my husband. He handles all of our marketing and pushes me daily to grow, challenge myself, and keep moving forward. The support behind the scenes matters more than people know.
My family has been my foundation throughout this journey. Building a business is not easy and it is not a solo sport. The encouragement from the people closest to me made this possible
