Check Out Ricky Shoebio’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Shoebio.

Hi Ricky, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a New York-based Creative Director, lifestyle photographer, and the founder of the content collective and agency [Know Your Dope (KYD). I’m recognized for my visual storytelling across the fashion, music, and commercial industries, particularly for my expertise in urban culture and style.

I started my career in journalism, eventually rising to become an Executive Editor at a couture publication. During this four-year period, I developed critical industry relationships and began attending high-profile brand activations.

In 2018, Ileft journalism to launch my own consulting agency, which I later scaled into the full-service creative agency “Full Lift” in 2020.

As a Visual Artist I am noted for my technical skill with constant lighting and RGB color techniques, often sharing my knowledge through masterclasses and speaking engagements at events.

I’ve collaborated with a vast array of global brands, creating imagery for campaigns and high-profile events for: Nike, Jordan Brand, Foot Locker, Adidas, Reebok, Puma, and Under Armour. The Grammys (The Recording Academy), New York Fashion Week, the U.S. Open, and the NBA. BMW, Ferrari, Tesla, Samsung, Disney, and Hulu.

In 2025, I was highlighted by Nike NYC and Mona d’NYC for the “Unapologetic Legacy” campaign celebrating Black History Month.

I is currently active in New YORK frequently producing portrait series like “Sunday Sessions” that focus on intentional, grounded visual storytelling.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Understanding that every journey has its challenges and struggles has been one of the things that has kept me stable through storms.

I think we all want to be able to have a say or be able to have things go the way we want and hope. However it’s often not that. We often have to remember to let things go and be as they are, have faith and know that there is always a plan and purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I feel like I specialize in creating scenes and stories in my work that pull the viewer into the moment I’ve capture.

I’m most proud of being able to help others get into this space and live out their dreams.

I think we are all unique, as far as what sets me apart is my eye and mind through my creative process and how I challenge myself.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that people that see and value you won’t have to be sold on you.
