Meet Sonia Barber of Covered Nail Bar in Grant Park

 Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Barber.

Sonia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Florida native who relocated to Atlanta in 2005 to continue Nursing school. I later found myself enrolled in Nail school as a way to supplement my income while attending school F/T.

Although I was passionate about nursing and then, the possibility of having a long-term career that would help me provide for my 3 children.

However, I found great pleasure in caring for my clients at my P/T job as a nail tech. The more that I engaged them in conversations, I discovered what they actually wanted from their nail care appt. and from that point, I decided to make every visit an experience. Because my vision is to change the way that nail care is viewed, I remain hopeful that that which Covered Nail Bar offers to be continuously met with an open mind.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a small business owner in a highly discounted industry, early on, it was difficult to bring people into the notion that “me time” was about pampered relaxation and not maintenance.

During my quest to carve out a niche, I found out a lot about customers and once I became clear in this I found my clients.

Covered Nail Bar – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Covered Nail Bar is a natural nail care salon. Specializing in manicures and pedicures. I am most known for toenail rejuvenation and SugaOil which is my product a hand spun sugar scrub and is used during services. The thing that makes CNB different is you the customer because I am challenged to new heights each time someone chooses to #getcovered.
