Meet Trailblazer Kyndra Donelson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndra Donelson.

Kyndra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started back in 2008, in my dorm room pioneering handmade digital pieces for my friends just for fun. I turned that hobby into a business in 2010 making exclusive custom pieces for celebrities, retail stores, and television shows. The brand started to grow from there, multiple retail shops from across the country were wanting to have these elusive earrings to sell.

Fast forward to 2018, we have expanded our brand to include the Protect Yo Energy line that incorporates merchandise meant to uplift the self by giving positivity the forefront in our lives, leaving no room for that which no longer serves the soul.

Today, the KD MADE IT brand has expanded to include more international pieces of jewelry, rare pieces that you would not normally find in the mall. Our site recently launched its customizing page where patrons can upload any high-quality image of their choice, business logo or artwork, and have it put on a pair of earrings or a pin or even the face of a magnet.

We are intrigued with what the next decade will bring.

Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, there have been obstacles along the way, some of my personal struggles came when I seemingly did not have the support or resources that I felt I needed to make the process easier. The advice that I do have is to not let anything hold you back, get out of your own way. You are all you need. Consistency and passion are key.

I created and pioneered the worlds first digital jewelry, making it possible for people to customize pieces with artwork and photos that are uniquely special to them.

Introducing Protect Yo Energy, I am most proud of the fact that I continue to grow as a brand. There is a never-ending need for positive makers in this world more than ever before. I am thankful that people choose this brand to help them get through depression and health issues and as a motivation for conquering day to day life.

What sets me apart from others is my passion behind the message, it is about more than making money, it is about making a difference. I am doing this to continue to build my lasting legacy in the world.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
It is very important to have a mentor, someone who is a bit more seasoned than you are, just to give you that advice and support what you need. My mentor and I are very close and I credit them as the person that changed my way of thinking.

Networking is essential. It is not about what you can do, it truly is about who you know and about building connections that are everlasting.
