Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
To be honest, pushing past barriers is never easy. In my 14 years of entrepreneurship, I have dealt with racism, sexism, financial & geographic barriers, as well as transitioning into a wife and a mother along with my journey. What I realized early in life, is that to get to the next level you have to constantly live outside of your comfort zone. I had to get very comfortable with never being comfortable. I had to get to a point where I learned to own my accomplishments. When talking about being a serial entrepreneur, I had to get comfortable very quickly with not allowing myself to be boxed in by one passion or people’s perceptions of my capacity of things that I could be successful at. Having multiple strengths and passions can be a tremendous gift, as long as you are confident in it and can embrace it.

For other serial entrepreneurs or as I like to say “multi-passionate” entrepreneurs, it is important to learn the value of positioning, and how to strategically own your narrative (both internally and externally) to set yourself up for success. One trap to avoid with being multi-passionate is not turning EVERYTHING into a business, some of your passions are meant to just to be hobbies. I tell myself, Sir Richard Branson, Oprah, TD Jakes are some that have a variety of talents and ambitions. The world sees them as innovative, so why not me!

I am intentional about the life I want to live, generating multiple streams of income to create generational wealth.

What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Always remember your “why.” Everyone has a WHY. Your WHY is the purpose, cause or belief that inspires you.

Knowing your WHY gives you a filter to make choices, at work and at home, that will help you find greater fulfillment in all that you do. Also, make sure you plan out your revenue capacity when starting your business. Many people start a business strictly based on passion and don’t take the time to map out P&L statements, income maps, true budgets, etc. to truly create a longevity plan for their business that can truly sustain their lifestyle.
