Today we’d like to introduce you to LaSara Bell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us LaSara . So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
My story began in high school. I grew up in an underserved community and attended a Title-I high school. While in high school, I excelled in my classes, but I realized post-graduation that my Honor Roll status was not transferable to competitive university settings like the one that I attended; the University of Georgia, and beyond.
The adversity I faced throughout my undergraduate career compelled me to establish my first company; Village Hands Consulting. This allows me to empower youth and young adults by providing unique and cutting-edge educational workshops in order to prepare them for life after high school graduation.
As Village Hands began to grow, I knew I also wanted to pour into people of all ages. With this in mind, I birthed my Holistic Empowerment coaching business. As a Holistic Empowerment Coach, I curate individualized and strategic steps to help people of all ages reach their full potential by enhancing their mind, body, and spirit.
While balancing being a wife and an entrepreneur, I also am a premedical student and hope to become a physician. In my spare time, I empower other premeds to never give up on their dreams of being a physician through my platform; PreMedPepTalk.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth at all. One of the most frequent challenges that I face as an entrepreneur is Imposter Syndrome. I have to choose daily to silence the negative voices that tell me I don’t have anything of value to offer. Every day I decide to do what I know God has called me to do, despite how I feel because I know that this is bigger than me. What I mean by that is, if I bow down to fear or doubt, there could be someone on down the line that won’t reach their full potential because I never launched that thing that they needed to propel them into their destiny. I would encourage other young women starting out to not listen to their fears and have a good community or support system to push them forward when they feel like they have been crippled by imposter syndrome/fear/doubt.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Village Hands Consulting – what should we know?
Through my company, Village Hands Consulting, I empower youth and young adults to reach their full potential by providing holistic educational workshops on topics that are not traditionally taught in the school system. We address all aspects of the student’s learning experience through our 3 Tier Holistic Model, which means that the workshops and curriculum that we offer addresses key issues associated with the student’s mind, body and spirit. For instance, our gold standard program in the “Mind Tier” is our Professionalism 1 on 1 program. This program is a four workshop series that teaches students how to dress for an interview, public speaking, social media influence on professionalism, etc. In the “Body Tier” we address issues such as health and wellness. Lastly, in the “Spirit Tier” we focus on Christian values. In addition to empowering youth and young adults, I also offer holistic empowerment coaching services to people of all ages. I provide one on one coaching and virtual empowerment workshops that provide actionable, faith-based strategies to enhance their mind, body, and spirit. I tackle everything from time management, defeating fear and doubt, stress management, prioritizing your relationship with God, and so much more with my clients. What sets me apart is that I have created businesses that align with my God-given gifts and talents. I learned a long time ago that I am most fulfilled when I am encouraging and empowering others to thrive in every area of their lives, so it only made sense to create something that aligned with my core values.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Absolutely! I grew up in a single parent household, and my mom always stressed the importance of education. While I always excelled in school, I did not realize until college that disparities and inequity in education existed. I would say that my educational foundation or the lack thereof shaped who I am today. The challenges I faced due to the lack of equal educational opportunities in my underserved community helped me realize the need to prepare youth and young adults for life after high school graduation, which is the reason I established Village Hands Consulting. I am a firm believer that my obstacles were just a set up for my future success.
