Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Lomax.
Daniel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my drag journey in 2014 after struggling with a MDMA addiction. So, I created Molly to serve a reminder of my past and weapon for my continued journey.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Hahahaha. Absolutely not. Drag is a ruthless world sometimes. Every aspect of a person is fair game for criticism – from earrings to ethics. I actually stopped doing drag for a while because the environment was so hostile. But, in 2017, I came back to compete for the title of Mx. Glitz and wrecked the competition. The drag community respects resilience and I came back to show others and myself that I’m not backing down and I’m not going anywhere.
Please tell us about Molly Rimswell.
I am the bearded beauty of Atlanta and I specialize in being a filthy animal. I’m very attracted to the dirty underbelly of life, so I try to remind people that life isn’t always rhinestones and jewelry but, rather, beauty is found amongst the filth. Recognizing that, making changes, and moving forward is how I center myself in the whirlwind of society.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I don’t think I have a favorite memory from childhood. My childhood was filled with a lot of pain and turmoil. I will say that because of my childhood experiences I have grown into an energy of love and safe haven for others. I will never use my past as a crutch, but I will allow it fuel and strengthen my future.
