Alicia Kramer of Marietta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Alicia Kramer and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
One thing I’ve learned about our customers is just how deeply they want to create — but how hard it can be to find the time, space, and focus at home. There’s always something pulling their attention away. What has surprised and moved me the most is how many members have shared that they didn’t realize how much they needed a creative community until they found Marietta Craft Club. It’s become a place where they can relax, make things with their hands, and feel truly connected — and that sense of belonging is just as meaningful as the crafting itself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I am Alicia Kramer, Co-Founder of the Marietta Craft Club based in Cobb County we serve the Marietta and surrounding communities. Marietta Craft Club is a welcoming creative community where people come together to make, learn, and connect. Our club offers a relaxed space to work on projects, try new crafts, and enjoy guided workshops, classes and retreats — all with friendly faces who share a love of creating. Whether you’re a seasoned maker or just discovering your crafty side, Marietta Craft Club gives you the time, inspiration, and encouragement you may not get at home. It’s a place to unwind, laugh, learn something new, and feel part of a warm, creative community you didn’t know you were missing.

The Marietta Craft Club got its start over a year ago from an idea of something I saw in Chicago while visiting. I just knew it was something I wanted to bring back to Georgia and get started in this area. I love the idea of fostering community and a craft club does just that. Since forming at the beginning of 2025 our group has experienced tremendous growth. Both myself and co-founder, Fatima Diaz-Kramer were so surprised how fast we grew. We have brought on an Event Manager, Jaynie Earley and two volunteers, Alicia Gandhi and Shannon Bond, who have shared their talents with our club members.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
One thing I’ve had to let go of as a crafty business owner is the idea of absolute perfection. In the creative world, projects don’t always turn out exactly the way you imagined — and that’s okay. I’ve learned to embrace the imperfections, let go of what doesn’t go as planned, and celebrate what does come together in the end.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
Last fall, I was retired early from a C-suite position at a law firm, and that transition is what inspired me to form Marietta Craft Club. Recently, I was approached by another firm with an opportunity to return to a C-suite role. While the title and compensation were certainly tempting — and I seriously considered it — I ultimately realized that my true passion is right here: creating meaningful experiences, hosting small events, and being part of this wonderful creative community. Over the past year, I’ve made so many friendships and connections through Marietta Craft Club, and I simply couldn’t imagine walking away from something that brings me so much joy and purpose.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that my family and friends matter most to me. At the end of the day, the connection you have with those people in your life make the most impact.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am crafting, working with my hands, reading or baking. Those hobbies bring me so much joy and at the end of the day are a great way to wind down.
