Amarilys Gonzalez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Amarilys, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are the most meaningful ones.
I start by communicating with God, thanking Him for giving me one more day of life. I talk to Him as a friend, because I’ve learned that when we keep God close, life doesn’t just become happier — it gains purpose.
I like to take those first quiet minutes to focus on gratitude instead of complaints. I thank Him for the air I breathe, for my home, my bed, my health, and for having my children safe and well. Then I ask for strength to face the day with energy, and for wisdom to honor Him through my actions and thoughts.
After praying, I read a portion of the Bible. Then I get up, do my skincare ritual, take a shower, and enjoy my breakfast — usually coffee with collagen and my vitamins. I also take my little dog for a walk before heading to work.
Starting my day in gratitude and peace helps me carry a positive energy to everything I do and reminds me that every new morning is a gift to honor God and serve others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I have the honor of representing a brand that combines education and wellness — Ama Spa Academy. What started as a beauty and wellness space has evolved into an educational movement that empowers Latina women to become owners of their own businesses.
At Ama Spa Academy, we don’t just teach facial and body aesthetics — we teach women to believe in themselves. Our workshops integrate three essential pillars: technical knowledge, business strategy, and mindset. We know that true transformation begins from within, so we focus on helping women strengthen their confidence and purpose while learning practical skills.
We also offer online education to reach Latina women in any part of the world who want to care for their skin from home without spending too much, learning how to choose the right products and routines for their skin type.
Our philosophy is simple but powerful: When you are well, your environment thrives too. We believe that every service or class we give is an opportunity to transform lives through self-care, knowledge, and purpose.
Ama Spa Academy is more than a beauty school — it’s a movement to inspire women to heal, grow, and lead with love. 💙
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My first memory of feeling truly powerful began with a dream — a vision that was born when I was just a teenager sitting in a high school classroom.
I told myself, “One day, I’m going to own my own business.”
It wasn’t just a thought; it became a promise to myself.
While others were still figuring out what they wanted to be, I was already visualizing myself as a businesswoman — confident, independent, and leading something that would make a difference. I believed in discipline, faith, and the power of positive thinking. I didn’t wait for the “perfect time.” I created it.
After graduating from university, at only 22 years old, I turned that dream into reality: I opened my own preschool. I poured my heart into it — every idea, every detail, every student. Before long, I had more than 150 children enrolled and 300 parents who trusted my vision, my integrity, and my love for what I did.
That was the moment I realized what true power means. It’s not about control or money; it’s about turning your vision into something real through perseverance and love. It’s about using your gifts to uplift others.
That young woman who once dreamed of owning a business proved to herself that faith, discipline, and action can transform any dream into reality. And now, I carry that same fire into everything I do — helping others believe that they can too.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
What suffering taught me — that success never could — is the strength that comes from breaking but still choosing to rebuild.
When I was a teenager, I grew up in a dysfunctional family where there was pain and emotional abuse. At that time, I didn’t realize it, but those difficult years were shaping something powerful inside me — resilience.
Instead of letting the pain define me, I made a promise to myself: “My story will be different.” That became my purpose, my drive, and my hope. Through the struggle, I learned to believe in myself, to set goals, and to find light in the middle of chaos.
Years later, life tested me again. As an immigrant woman and a single mother in a new country, I faced new challenges — loneliness, uncertainty, fear. But that same strength that pain once built inside me became my greatest ally.
Suffering taught me something success never could — that real strength doesn’t come from what you achieve, but from what you overcome. It taught me that my power doesn’t come from outside validation, but from within. And it reminded me that I am never alone, because faith gives me the courage to keep walking even when the path feels heavy.
Now, every time I face a hard moment, I remind myself: pain was my teacher, but purpose is my guide.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
One of the things I value the most in life and business is authenticity. I’ve learned that there is power in being real — in showing not only your strengths, but also your moments of vulnerability. Through my personal brand, I speak about mindset, business, and growth, but I also share the emotional side of entrepreneurship — the fears, the sadness, and the lessons that come from letting go.
Once, someone asked me in an interview: “What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned since moving to this country?” My answer was simple — “Detachment.”
I used to suffer deeply from attachment, especially to my mother. That emotional bond was so strong that learning to let go was painful, but it shaped me. It helped me grow emotionally and spiritually.
What people see online — my confidence, my teachings, my joy — it’s all real. But behind that, there’s a woman who works daily on herself, who meditates, reflects, and constantly seeks purpose and balance. I’m not interested in showing perfection; I’m interested in showing truth.
I want other women and entrepreneurs to understand that success isn’t what brings happiness. Business, recognition, and achievements are beautiful, but they mean nothing if you lose yourself along the way. First, we must be — nurture our inner selves, strengthen our connection with God, and live with purpose.
That’s who I am — a woman who embraces her humanity, her emotions, and her constant journey of growth. Authenticity is not part of my brand — it’s the essence of it
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes, I can give my best in everything I do, even if no one recognizes it — because I know that God does.
I truly believe that everything we do with love, honesty, and a genuine desire to serve never goes unnoticed by Him. When I give my best — whether in my business, my relationships, or my daily life — I don’t do it for applause. I do it because it aligns with my faith and my values.
There’s a saying that has guided me throughout my life: “Those who weren’t born to serve, aren’t fit to live.” Service has always been a part of who I am. I put my heart into everything I do — not out of obligation, but out of love.
Even if no one sees the effort, I know that God does. He rewards what’s done in silence, what’s done with a pure heart. And that awareness gives me peace — the kind of peace that comes from knowing you are walking in harmony with your purpose and with God’s will.
At the end of the day, success for me isn’t about recognition — it’s about being at peace with my conscience, my values, and above all, with Him.
✨ True greatness isn’t measured by who sees you, but by who you serve.
