We recently had the chance to connect with Jasmine Carlisle and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Jasmine , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
In my opinion, the most important is integrity. Integrity is the quality of being honest, and having strong and consistent morals and principles. In school, I always remember teachers saying integrity is doing the right thing even if no one is watching. There are different aspects to integrity. Am I doing what is right, honest, and truthful? Do my actions align with my words and commitments? When I act with integrity I am following the right path even if another way could yield me benefits personally.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi everyone, I’m Jasmine Jacari’ — a multifaceted creative, writer, and entrepreneur. This is actually my second feature with Voyage ATL; the first was back in 2021 when I was running a baking business that taught me a lot about creativity, entrepreneurship, and growth. Since then, I’ve been in a new season of rebranding and rebuilding — shifting my focus toward helping others find clarity in their own paths while following my own. I’ve since become an author and content creator, interviewing amazing Black indie authors and sharing my love for books and storytelling. I’m also currently pursuing my cosmetology license, adding another creative layer to my journey and deepening my appreciation for beauty and self-expression.
Beyond that, I am starting to share my personal journey and creative work through Your Multifaceted Friend, my platform on instagram where I get to talk creatively about all my facets and the process of evolving in real time. At my core, I’m passionate about showing that it’s okay to be multifaceted — to have multiple passions, wear different hats, and grow through every season. I believe every gift we have is connected, and that every rebrand, restart, or redirection can lead us closer to our purpose.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
One thing that I have unlearned from childhood is the notion that, I, as a multi-hyphenate, multifaceted individual have to subject myself to fit into one box when I’m called to many. The thing about the beauty of our genetic makeup is that we are all different. And the belief that one thing will satisfy me when I’m called to do and be more is absurdity.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I’d tell her that it’s okay to take her time — everything doesn’t have to come together all at once. You don’t have to shrink to fit in or rush to prove yourself. Every season, even the uncertain ones, is shaping you into who you’re meant to become. The things that make you different aren’t random; they’re part of your purpose. One day it’ll all make sense — every gift, every pivot, every restart. So give yourself grace, keep creating, and trust that you’re becoming something beautiful.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is making a true impact on the lives of others, no matter what form it takes. Whether it’s through my writing, my love for beauty, entrepreneurship, my words of encouragement, or any creative project I put my hands to, I care about creating things that make people feel seen, inspired, and understood. I’ve always believed that purpose shows up in many ways — and for me, it’s about using my gifts to remind others that theirs matter too.
No matter what season I’m in, my heart is always in the same place: I want what I do to mean something and leave people better than I found them.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve come to understand deeply that growth doesn’t always look like progress. Sometimes it looks like pausing, pivoting, or even starting over. We live in a culture that celebrates speed and success, but real purpose takes time to unfold. I’ve learned that being in alignment matters more than being “ahead,” and that the slow seasons often do the most shaping. I understand deeply that purpose isn’t one thing — it’s layered. For a long time, I thought I had to pick one path or passion, but now I know being multifaceted is my gift. I’ve learned that embracing all your gifts doesn’t make you scattered — it makes you whole.
Every passion, every creative expression connects to the same deeper purpose: to impact and inspire others, help them feel seen, and leave them with something meaningful they can carry forward.
