An Inspired Chat with Javone Gratton-Jackson & Vonpoetry of East Atlanta

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Javone Gratton-Jackson & Vonpoetry . Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Javone & Vonpoetry , we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What battle are you avoiding?
I’m trying to avoid constantly battling the feeling of failure, especially when I forget to recognize everything I’ve already accomplished. Even though I’ve done a lot, it’s easy for me to feel like it’s not enough. On top of that, I carry a lot of pressure to win, which makes the weight even heavier. I’m working on shifting my mindset so I can acknowledge my progress, ease that pressure, and stop letting the fear of failure overshadow what I’ve actually achieved.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Javone Gratton-Jackson (Vonpoetry),
and I write to turn feelings into something that can be seen, heard, and understood. I grew up learning to navigate life through observation—watching people, listening to their stories, and collecting every moment that made me feel something. I am from East Atlanta, a place where dreams rarely live to bloom but always find ways to touch the next generations. Writing became my way of translating those moments into meaning.I’ve battled pressure, doubt, and the fear of not being enough, but each challenge sharpened my voice. My poetry reflects my journey: the highs that carried me, the lows that shaped me, and the resilience that keeps me creating. Through my words, I try to give others what writing has always given me—a place to breathe, reflect, and grow.I am the voice born between silence and survival—a storyteller who turns pressure into rhythm and pain into something that can finally exhale. My words are where truth learns to speak. I am stitched together from ink, memory, and the moments I was never supposed to survive. I grew up carrying worlds on my shoulders—expectations, pressure, and the quiet weight of wanting to win at a life that kept rewriting the rules. Before I learned how to speak boldly, I learned how to feel deeply. I collected heartbreaks like lessons, victories like whispers, and failures like mirrors that forced me to face myself. Writing became the place where I could lay down what I couldn’t carry, shaping my struggles into something softer, something true. Every line I write is a reminder that I’ve climbed more mountains than anyone saw, and I’ve grown in the places where I once broke. I am still learning to honor my progress, forgive my pauses, and turn the ache in my chest into art that breathes for others too. I am Vonpoetry—made of bruised hope, stubborn resilience, and a voice that refuses to stay quiet. My story lives in the space between who I was, who I am, and who I am still becoming. I’m working on future projects like albums, books, poems etc.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My older brother , Jordan Gratton and my Mother

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I miss myself before my heart was at war with the world

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My Mother’s because most situations was in aligned with the foreshadowing details she used to warn or encourage me with.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes
