Karyna Perahudava shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Karyna, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I started being more intentional with my mornings, because I believe that how you start your day sets the direction, mood and pace of your day. I try not to use my phone first thing, instead I take my time to make my bed, do my skincare and change into my workout clothes. I usually quickly eat at a protein rich breakfast (cottage cheese, eggs, turkey or omelet) and head to the gym to a workout class or to do my own. I combine walking and cardio with some weights to start my day. Then I usually come back home, make my matcha and spend time with the Lord while reading scripture, praying and journaling. That way I get ready and go about my day feeling energized and fulfilled.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes, absolutely! I’m a 23 y.o slavic girl, a model, fashion marketer, planner, content creator and digital marketer. I’m a GSU alumni with a Bachelors Degree in Media Entrepreneurship.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
In the modeling and fashion industry that I’m in, one of the biggest things that gave me the foundation and knowledge was going to the modeling school myself back in Belarus. I’ve always admired my runway and posing coach that taught me so much about the industry, confidence and all the essential skills. She was always leading all the students by being an example and a true role model of a woman that is bold, professional, straight forward, creative but also very kind, honest and loving. I learned to embrace my uniqueness, step out of my comfort zone and to always be a woman of integrity and my word, while carrying myself with poise and grace.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I think one of the biggest things that held me back in life was people pleasing, fear of what people will think, desire to be liked by everyone and being a perfectionist. I used to think a lot before starting something, processing different possible outcomes and wanting to make it in the most ideal way according to my vision. Later in life I learned that of course it’s great to have a plan, think ahead and be intentional with what you’re doing, but the reality is that we truly won’t ever be ready for big steps and decisions in life. We all start somewhere small and it truly takes faith, trust in God, boldness and a risk. There is no need to try to make it perfect, because a lot of the times improvement and perfection comes through the journey of learning. When I started trying new things, starting new jobs and projects, there were always so many people supporting me and speaking life into me when I might’ve felt discouraged. Growth is uncomfortable, but I better choose the struggle of overcoming my fears than regret about not chasing after something that might’ve changed my life.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I try to always live by the motto: don’t seem – be. I think that in the era of social media it’s so easy to put on a mask, filter and pretend like you’re someone you’re actually not. I know that God is working on my heart in this topic a lot, especially as I stepped into the teens ministry and opened up a girls bible study group called “Bows & Bible”. Every time I share a message or just in general say anything in public, share and teach, I always do a heart check to truly be real and examine myself whether I’m living out what I’m teaching, and that before I say something to someone, I first of all apply it in my own life. Being genuine, real, teachable, open to deep connection is so rare nowadays but so precious and golden, so we should all strive for that instead of the online perfect image and standards of success.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That she loved Jesus and people so much. It’s genuinely the biggest desire of my heart no matter the industry I’m at and what I do. I want to live a life full of purpose, fulfilling of God’s calling, being intentional with people around me and knowing God truly and deeply. I want my life to bring God glory in everything I do.
