We recently had the chance to connect with Khushi Patel and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Khushi, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes, especially with XVI.
There were moments when I could’ve moved faster, but choosing to slow down allowed me to honor my intuition and the intention behind the brand. That pause helped me protect the integrity of what I was building and make decisions that felt aligned, not rushed. In the long run, that patience shaped XVI into something more meaningful and sustainable.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Khushi Patel, and I’m the founder of XVI, a ritual-based skincare brand rooted in intention, balance, and care. XVI was created from a desire to slow down and reframe skincare as a moment of presence rather than just a routine. Each product is thoughtfully crafted with clean, nourishing ingredients and designed to support not only the skin, but the person using it.
What makes XVI special is its deeper purpose. Through our Good Karma initiative, every purchase supports giving back, reflecting my belief that beauty and generosity can coexist. As a founder, I’m deeply involved in every detail, from formulation to storytelling, and right now I’m focused on growing XVI in a way that feels aligned, meaningful, and sustainable.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
What breaks bonds: I think distance, misunderstanding, and a lack of presence are what really strain relationships. When we stop listening or fail to show up with honesty and empathy, bonds weaken.
What restores them: Genuine connection comes from patience, communication, and intentional care. Showing up consistently, being vulnerable, and creating space for understanding can heal and strengthen even the most fragile relationships. For me, it’s about being fully present and approaching every connection with respect, generosity, and an open heart, whether in friendships, family, or in the community I’m building through XVI.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me patience, resilience, and self-awareness in a way success never could. It showed me the importance of slowing down, listening to my intuition, and staying aligned with my values even when things feel uncertain. Those challenges shaped the way I approach XVI, they taught me to build something meaningful with care, intention, and heart, rather than rushing toward recognition or outcomes.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
I’ve learned that generosity and presence matter more than perfection or speed. I don’t always say it out loud, but it quietly guides how I show up: in relationships, in work, and in building XVI.
I also trust that timing matters; rushing rarely leads to what’s meant for you.
These truths shape everything I do, even if I don’t always put them into words.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
I’ve learned that growth isn’t a straight line, and clarity can’t be forced. The most meaningful shifts in my life, in both who I am and what I create came when I stopped chasing certainty and started listening to myself.
Pausing, trusting intuition, and leading with intention has become the rhythm that guides me, shaping how I build XVI and move through life.
