An Inspired Chat with Lil Vyl of Downtown

Lil Vyl shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Lil, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
Nowadays people are lost without a real message or substance. As an artist, it’s been a goal to become brand friendly and focus on the entrepreneurial skills that Hip-Hop as a music genre can teach.

Lately, I have partner with Dope Coffee, a coffee company focused on culture and Hip-Hop, we have coined the phrase “from Dope to Dope” with hopes that it inspires the youth to not pursue illegal avenues when there are so many opportunities out there.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Holding the south side of Atlanta down with a vengeance, Lil Vyl pulled up on the scene late 2017 with his debut project “Supa Vylan”. Since then Vyl has worked with producers such as Brandon Thomas, SenseiATL, Bishop Nehru, and Grammy award winning engineers. Previously featured on DJ Smallz Eyes youtube channel, Elevator Magazine, Daily Chiefers, and many more.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandmother always supported me from the jump. All my family has. But in high school she would take me to open mics in Atlanta and we would wait outside, in line all types of stuff. It is cool ghat we share those memories.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being broke. Essentially, we all have to provide for ourselves and the lifestyles that accompany. All we can do is wake up and be thankful and strive to get a bank full.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Trying to prove their point to an audience that will either meme or mock them.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Everyday we have to wake up and get fresh then do our best. Put our best foot forward.
