Check Out Alexandria Ikomoni’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Ikomoni.

Hi Alexandria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Honestly, everything clicked for me when I was sitting in my apartment in Illinois, where I was working as a TV news anchor, and I was watching Selling Sunset on Netflix. I said to myself, ‘girl what are you doing?!’ There is a fabulous and luxurious life in real estate and the amount you can make a year is endless! Get started!! Of course, when I actually got into real estate, you see the reality of it. Go figure, a reality show didn’t show me the reality! Haha. But I absolutely love it. It was the best choice for me. I’m still a news anchor here in Atlanta. I work with iHeartMedia and I get to talk to and interview a bunch of cool celebrities that can turn into real estate clients. But I do real estate full-time here in Atlanta as well.

And as far as why I got into the luxury market, I’m a lady who loves nice things. I love a luxury lifestyle. It’s the lifestyle I grew up knowing. I was blessed to have parents who also got into real estate, so you can say it’s in my DNA. But seeing it from their standpoint of investing, it didn’t look like fun. It was messy, dirty and not glamorous. You get a property that needs a lot of work but at a good deal. When you put in a little money into it, you’ll see the diamond that was in the rough. And you can make a great profit from the deal. I didn’t see it from that perspective growing up. I have a deeper appreciation for what my parents do. It’s not easy to flip a home. But homes that are considered luxurious homes just speaks to my soul. Don’t get me wrong, a home no matter the features or price point is definitely something amazing within itself. But luxury finishes, tiles, marble, infinity pools, wine cellars, theater rooms, spas/salons, etc., brings stars to my eyes every time.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Oh no. If someone tells you real estate is easy and smooth and all you do is just show homes and collect checks, they lied to you! Real estate is tough. It’s a 24/7 hustle. You will work way more than you do in your 9-5. Being successful in this business is not for the weak or timid. My clients refer to me as a bulldog. You have to be firm but fair at times, especially when negotiating a deal. You can’t be afraid of confrontation. You have to speak up and do what you can to make sure your client wins at the end of the day. You have to know the market, do a lot of research, know how to read contracts and prepare competitive offers, and you have to be prepared and know how to put out both little and big fires every day. Your client is depending on you as the professional to take care of many different types of situations, especially when it’s their first time buying. They haven’t been through this process before so they’re depending on you.

If you’re not business-minded, a self-starter, go getter, have discipline, independent, good communicator, etc. you will struggle. Being on your A game at all times is crucial. You are the sole reason as to how successful your business is. You need to be an excellent communicator. You have to be ready and comfortable speaking to strangers in order to build relationships and connections. This business is truly based off of relationships. But if you want to eat, and you’re starving, you’ll find a way to make it happen and you’ll see the fruits of your labor.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a news anchor first. I’ve worked with CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates stations across the country. Right now, I’m with iHeartRadio interviewing some pretty cool celebrities and artists in the music industry. I’m a luxury homes real estate agent here in the Metro Atlanta area. But truth is, I work with buyers and sellers in all price points! Whether it’s a $200,000 purchase or $2 Million purchase, I’m happy to work with my client. My goal is to see everyone achieve their real estate goals. I would never turn down someone that reaches out to me looking to sell.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
