Check Out Ashley Henry’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Henry.

Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started braiding hair at a very young age, starting off with braiding all my baby dolls hair. When I turnt about 13 years old, I started doing my sisters & nieces hair. Braiding wasn’t always a passion for me; it was more so a gift, a talent, something that was therapeutic to me. The more people heads I did, the more it became a passion. Learning new techniques, and seeing how happy my sisters would be after I finished was an amazing feeling that I never wanted to get rid of. I started taking braiding hair seriously after my mother passed away in 2014, she was one of my biggest supporters. And the only goal I was striving to accomplish was being success with my business and making her proud.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With any business, you hit a couple of bumps in the road before the success starts kicking in. It’s been times where I would get discouraged, times where it was hard building clientele, times where I felt like I wasn’t a good braider. Through all those doubts I still pushed forward because I always seen the bigger picture I was painting. Always believe in yourself, your abilities, and your potential. Never let self-doubt hold you captive.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a braider located in Stonecrest, Georgia. I specialize in any braid style or loc style. I’m known for my soft locs, butterfly locs, knotless braids & passion twist. I’m proud of the accomplishments I’ve made thus far with deciding to do braids full-time.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be the time I visited Labadee, Haiti on a cruise with my uncle, grandmother and auntie for my 13th birthday.
