Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashma Arora Sundaram.
Hi Ashma Arora, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey as a woman who looked strong on the outside, but like many women, carried silent battles within herself. I was always the one holding everything together — family, responsibilities, emotions, expectations — while slowly losing pieces of myself somewhere in between.
For years, I lived for everyone else first. I was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a professional, a caretaker… but somewhere deep inside, there was still a girl full of dreams, creativity, passion, and ambition waiting to breathe again.
I worked professionally as an Executive Assistant, and life looked stable from the outside, but after stepping away from my career to focus on family, I entered a phase that changed me deeply. There were moments where I questioned my identity, my confidence, my worth, and whether it was too late to rebuild myself.
But life has a strange way of awakening you when you think you are breaking.
What started as a small love for fashion, styling, jewelry, creativity, and self-expression slowly became AshCo Collective — not just a business, but a reflection of my soul. I didn’t have investors, a fancy office, or a perfect strategy. I had faith, resilience, sleepless nights, emotional breakdowns, courage, and a dream that refused to die.
I started packing orders myself, doing exhibitions, creating content, going live on Instagram, managing social media, sourcing products, handling finances, and trying to build something meaningful from scratch. There were days of self-doubt, fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Days where I wondered if anyone would believe in my vision. But every time I wanted to stop, something inside me whispered — keep going.
Fashion became so much more than clothes for me. It became healing. It became confidence. It became a way to remind women that they deserve to feel beautiful, seen, celebrated, and powerful exactly as they are. I wanted every outfit from AshCo to feel personal and exclusive — because I believe every woman deserves to feel like she is one of one.
At the same time, my personal journey transformed me emotionally and spiritually. Through pain, growth, motherhood, relationships, loneliness, spirituality, self-reflection, and rebuilding myself piece by piece, I slowly started finding my voice again. Dance, creativity, and content creation became an escape, a passion, and eventually a platform where I could finally express myself honestly.
Over time, social media stopped being just pictures and videos. It became a space where I started speaking openly about peace, healing, womanhood, confidence, emotional struggles, self-worth, and rebuilding your life even when everything feels uncertain. The love and connection I received from people made me realize that authenticity has power.
There were moments where life humbled me deeply. Moments where I had to start over emotionally, financially, mentally, and personally. But those moments also taught me resilience. They taught me that strength is not loud. Sometimes strength is simply waking up every morning and deciding not to give up on yourself.
Today, I am still evolving. I am still rebuilding. I am still dreaming bigger than ever before. I’m building AshCo Collective with passion and purpose, exploring storytelling and podcasting, growing through content creation, and trying to create a life that feels aligned with who I truly am.
My journey is not about perfection or overnight success. It’s about becoming.
Becoming stronger after heartbreak.
Becoming softer after pain.
Becoming confident after self-doubt.
Becoming visible after years of feeling unseen.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this — sometimes the most beautiful versions of ourselves are born from the seasons that almost broke us.
This is not just my story of business or social media.
This is the story of a woman learning to choose herself again.
And honestly… I feel like this is only the beginning.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. In many ways, my journey was built during some of the hardest and most emotionally challenging phases of my life.
One of my biggest struggles was losing myself while trying to be everything for everyone else. Somewhere between responsibilities, motherhood, relationships, expectations, and life’s pressures, I slowly stopped recognizing the woman I used to be. Rebuilding that confidence after years of self-doubt was not easy.
Starting over professionally after stepping away from my career was another huge challenge. There’s a certain fear that comes with restarting your life when everyone around you seems ahead. I questioned myself constantly — whether I was capable enough, whether people would take me seriously, whether I could really build something of my own from scratch.
Building AshCo Collective also came with financial stress, uncertainty, and emotional pressure. I started small, handled everything myself, and often worked through exhaustion and anxiety without showing it outwardly. There were moments where things felt overwhelming — balancing family, business, social media, personal struggles, and trying to stay emotionally strong all at once.
Social media, while beautiful in many ways, also came with its own challenges. People often see the polished pictures, outfits, and smiles, but they don’t always see the sleepless nights, the emotional breakdowns, the fear, or the strength it takes to keep showing up when life feels heavy internally. One of the hardest lessons for me was learning that healing and growth are not linear. Some days you feel powerful, and some days you are simply trying to survive emotionally.
Another challenge was learning to choose myself without guilt. As women, we are often taught to sacrifice endlessly, but somewhere along this journey I realized that constantly abandoning yourself is not strength. Learning boundaries, self-worth, emotional healing, and self-respect became one of the biggest internal battles of my life.
There were also moments where I felt alone in my vision. Building something creative from scratch requires immense faith, especially when success is not immediate. But those difficult seasons shaped me the most. They taught me resilience, patience, courage, and the ability to keep moving forward even when life feels uncertain.
Today, when people see growth in my brand or confidence in my content, what they’re really seeing is the result of a woman who refused to give up on herself despite every reason to. And honestly, I think that’s the most powerful part of my story.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Creativity has become one of the biggest parts of who I am today. Currently, I am building my brand AshCo Collective while also growing as a social media creator, storyteller, and entrepreneur. At the same time, I am actively looking to step back into the professional world and rebuild my career journey alongside everything I’m creating personally.
My work today is deeply personal because it was born during a phase where I was trying to rediscover myself. What started as a love for fashion, styling, content creation, and connecting with people slowly evolved into a platform where I could express not just creativity, but emotion, resilience, confidence, and authenticity.
Through AshCo Collective, I specialize in curated fashion and styling that makes women feel exclusive, confident, and seen. I have always believed fashion is not just about clothes — it is about identity, energy, and how a woman feels when she looks at herself in the mirror. Every collection I curate reflects individuality and emotion rather than mass production.
As a content creator, I create lifestyle, fashion, and self-growth content that resonates emotionally with people. I speak openly about rebuilding yourself, peace, womanhood, confidence, emotional growth, and finding strength during difficult seasons of life. I think what people connect with most is that I never try to appear perfect. I share the real journey — the ambition, the struggles, the rebuilding, the vulnerability, and the growth behind the scenes.
At the same time, I am also in a phase of professionally rebuilding my career after stepping away from the corporate world for family and personal responsibilities. That journey itself has taught me so much about resilience, humility, and courage. I know what it feels like to start over, to doubt yourself, and to still keep showing up every single day with hope in your heart.
What I’m most proud of is not just building a brand or growing on social media — it’s the fact that I found myself again after years of feeling disconnected from who I truly was. I’m proud that I kept going even during emotionally difficult phases of life. I’m proud that I turned pain into creativity, fear into ambition, and uncertainty into purpose.
I think what sets me apart is my authenticity. Whether through fashion, content, conversations, or storytelling, I want people to feel emotion when they connect with my work. I don’t just want to create visuals — I want to create connection, inspiration, and honesty.
For me, success is no longer just about achievements. It’s about becoming the woman I once needed during my hardest days — strong, graceful, evolving, and unafraid to begin again.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think some of the biggest transformations in life begin the moment you decide to take a risk on yourself.
For me, risk-taking has never looked glamorous or fearless from the outside. In fact, most of the important risks I’ve taken came during phases where I was scared, emotionally exhausted, uncertain, and still trying to figure life out. But I’ve learned that courage is not the absence of fear — it’s choosing to move forward despite it.
One of the biggest risks I took was rebuilding myself after losing confidence in who I was for a long time. Stepping back into the world professionally, creatively, emotionally, and socially after years of putting myself second was terrifying. There’s a certain vulnerability that comes with starting over as a woman, especially when life does not go exactly as planned.
Starting AshCo Collective was also a major personal and financial risk for me. I started without guarantees, without a perfect blueprint, and without knowing whether it would succeed. I invested my time, energy, emotions, creativity, and finances into something that existed only as a dream in my mind at first. There were moments where I questioned everything — whether people would support it, whether I was capable enough, or whether I was making the right decision. But somewhere deep inside, I knew that not trying would hurt me more than failing.
Another huge risk was allowing myself to be visible. Social media can be intimidating because it requires vulnerability. Choosing to show up authentically, share my journey, speak honestly about growth, healing, confidence, and rebuilding your life — that itself felt like emotional risk-taking. But I realized that the more honest I became, the more deeply people connected with me.
At this stage of my life, I’m also taking the risk of rebuilding my professional career while simultaneously growing as an entrepreneur and content creator. Balancing uncertainty while trying to create stability takes immense faith and resilience. But I truly believe growth only happens when you step outside of what feels safe and familiar.
I don’t think risk-taking always has to mean dramatic decisions. Sometimes the biggest risk is believing in yourself when life has given you every reason not to. Sometimes the biggest risk is choosing yourself after years of self-doubt. Sometimes it’s daring to begin again.
And honestly, every meaningful thing in my life so far has come from moments where I chose courage over comfort.
