Today we’d like to introduce you to Booker Snow III.
Hi Booker, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been a dreamer. Perhaps even a foolish one guided by whimsy and shaped by art in its many forms. It was Detroit that first ignited my creative spirit, a city whose rhythm and soul made expression feel not only possible, but necessary.
As a child, I sketched endlessly, though I never reached for color. In my teenage years, that creativity evolved into writing song lyrics, driven by a deep fascination with the emotional depth and delivery of artists like Prince, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Lenny Williams, The Temptations, New Edition, The Jacksons, Sade and Billie Holiday. What they said (and how they said it) was transformative. They didn’t just perform; they reshaped reality, turning raw emotion into something magical.
That influence naturally evolved into poetry. For a brief moment, I experimented with rap, but it became clear that my true gift wasn’t in performance. It was in writing. More specifically, I am a writer of love: its complexity, its contradictions, its beauty. Love as both lock and key. Love as both rose and thorn.
So from the gathering of knowledge, wisdom and understanding of a failed 1st Love, two failed marriages and a turbulent dating life came my published works, Journey To Love, 40 Letters Dedicated to Love Vol I and Journey To Love, 60 Letters Dedicated to Love Vol II. Two collections that explore love in its many forms and phases. Both are available on Amazon and Kindle, offering readers an intimate look into the endless journey that love invites us all to take. And from the completion of that journey came The Knew Musiq Experience.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My obstacles are a big part of my story, just like they are for everyone. If you’ve lived life, you’ve experienced loss, heartbreak, and disappointment. But those moments don’t outweigh what they’ve taught me. They’ve given me knowledge, wisdom, and understanding that I carry with me every day.
I didn’t grow up with my biological father, but I was blessed with a father figure who showed up in every way that mattered. Because of that, I never felt like I was missing anything. My mother is a survivor of domestic violence, and her strength shaped me. She did everything she could (and more) to provide a foundation for me.
I was also supported by a strong community. My aunts, uncles, grandparents, and even the families of my friends all played a role in who I’ve become.
My divorces are another important part of my journey. They weren’t easy, but they gave me perspective, growth, and ultimately inspired my “Journey to Love” work and the music I’m writing for other artists. Without those experiences, that purpose wouldn’t exist.
So yes, I’ve faced a lot of obstacles. But I see them as building blocks. They didn’t hold me back, they helped shape the relationships I value and the person I am today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a self-published author of “Journey to Love: Letters Dedicated to Love,” Volumes 1 and 2, currently available on Amazon. Volume 3—the final installment—is written and awaiting release.
In addition to writing, I create music under the artist name The Knew Musiq Experience. I’m managed by Donna “Momma Donna” Mitchell, who’s based in Atlanta and represents and books a number of talented artists in the industry. She’s recently begun presenting my music to both independent and mainstream artists, so I’m excited to see where those opportunities lead.
I’m also part of a startup film production group called Celestial Digiworks in Detroit. We’re currently finalizing our first script, with plans for both a television series and a full-length feature film.
Although I love creating, I’m a father first. My two daughters and my son are the greatest blessings I’ve ever been a part of. They’re what set me apart and they’re my inspiration and the reason I never give up.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Atlanta is called “Hotlanta” and “Black Hollywood” for a reason. The culture here didn’t just appear. It grew organically into something the world can’t ignore. From the Underground and Krog Street Market to lemon pepper wings, Tassili’s Raw Reality Café, and Slutty Vegan, the city blends flavor, creativity, and identity in a way that’s unmistakable. You can feel it at the Trap Music Museum. It’s not just music, it’s a movement.
Freaknik may have caught a lot of criticism, but it also set a cultural blueprint that’s been replicated for years. And at the heart of Atlanta’s musical legacy, you have the Dungeon Family, whose influence still shapes the sound of today.
For me, Atlanta feels close to home. It’s a straight shot south down I-75 from Detroit. One of the easiest, most worthwhile trips you can take.
However, with highs comes lows. That traffic is horrible!
