Check Out Brenda Louise Ivey’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Louise Ivey.

Hi Brenda Louise, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Brenda “BreLou” Ivey and I am an ACE-certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and Senior fitness specialist. I have been personal training for seven years, providing boot camps, fitness kickboxing, and individual training.

In 2018, I started FitGoals, LLC, a private fitness studio offering personal training and group fitness classes for individuals and small groups. I help clients set realistic fitness goals, and develop custom workout routines that support those goals.

I’ve been an athlete for as long as I can remember, specializing in team sports including tennis, basketball, and softball. I began training Muay Thai (kickboxing) in 2000 and spent many years in the ring sparring with male and female fighters.

In 2016 I began running 5Ks, completing 15 races that year and 13 the following year, including mud obstacle runs.

I love helping my clients exceed their fitness goals, using all that I have learned during my many years as an athlete. Even more, I love showing my clients that workouts can be fun and this fit lifestyle can be maintained.

FitGoals is also a certified CPR facility, offering adult and pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED training for both medical and non-medical attendees.

Outside of FitGoals, I am the mother of three amazing adults who each have their own businesses, Paula, Brittany, and Michael and a new Grandmother.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of my biggest struggles was having a storefront. The weight of growing my client base and managing my training staff was a distraction from my passion for helping others through fitness. After two years I decided to move to the country where I could have the studio on my land. This allowed me to focus 100% on training my clients and pouring into them my love for health and fitness.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My specialty is incorporating a variety of formats into my class offerings. This allows my clients to experience different styles of exercise that are both fun and challenging. My classes include fitness kickboxing, step cardio, suspension training, mini trampolines, rebounding shoes, line dancing, and more!

Having various classes keeps my clients interested and not locked into one type of class. It also delivers a better workout experience with faster results as the body doesn’t become conditioned to one style of exercise. All of my classes include both strength and cardio components.

I am most proud of the certifications I’ve obtained to support the various classes. I don’t just copy what’s advertised on social media and the internet. I invest in educating myself to provide the very best, knowledge-based classes I can to my clients.

What’s next?
I plan to expand my fitness training classes to senior citizens at county community centers, nursing homes, and adult communities. Active agers are a special group of clientele who can benefit most from consistent movement including cardio and strength training.

Further, I have plans to extend my online reach by offering virtual and on-demand training classes. Most of the classes I teach include affordable equipment which can be used at home. One of the reasons people pause their fitness journey is limited access due to class timing or location. An online presence will breakdown this barrier allowing more clients to experience my class offerings.
