Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Freeman.
brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a single mother who has dreams of being a present mother. I am a first born daughter and nly granddaughter with goals of creating generational resources for my family. I have always dabbled in small businesses, but once I had my daughter I wanted more. I wanted to be present, I wanted to show her she can do anything she wants in this life while being a mommy and a daughter. After working on school buses and being away from my daughter during her toddler years I starting thinking of what to leave her, I decided on a spa. My grandmother had passed while I was in school to obtain my esthetic degree. From there Jeannies Spa was born, a legacy to leave my daughter, and an honor to my grandmother. My goals now are to grow and expand my brand bringing self care and relaxation to the masses. What started as something to allow me more freedom and time turned into a love and passion for the well being of others. Today I am operating in two states both Georgia and Ohio. I am present in my daughters life for school and extra curricular activities. All while pouring love and positive energy into men and women. Specializing in men self care, as a reminder to men that they too deserve love and relaxation. Moving states, still rasing a child, and still showing up for myself. That is the journey, that is the vision, that is what I encourage each and every client I service.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth is a nonexistent word on this journey that I am on. Taking care of my daughter alone, moving to a new state and building my brand has been truly hard. The move was also to help my mother as she ages. The city she is in is not trasnplant friendly so the build has been very slow. Not being in Atlanta as often as I was also has had me lose sme clients along the way. The challenge of staying afloat while being an active mother is truly hard. I am also finishing my bachelors degree in business all while taking care of my daughter and my mother. Being a single mother with so much of a passion and vision is a struggle in itself. Wanting and seeing more than what may be literally in front of you is a battle. Keeping postitive energy when at times you are back against the wall is truly a battle as well. Making sure the business is legit in the process, making sure I check every box to keep it afloat is hard, and many do not think bout those things. Operating a growing brand alongside other endeavors and loving family leaves you forgetting to love yourself at times. Sometimes its hard to stay focused on the vision and goal, but pushing through is a must. Above anything the hardest part of all is navigating life and business woes with a straight face. Forcing those you love to think you are ok and have it all together when you actually do not at times is the worst feeling. Faith…. is the biggest saving grace through all the angst.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an esthetician with a business branding background. I own and operate Jeannies Spa soon to be a wellness studio. The foundation is skin care and natural hair care. I specialize in loc hair care, waxing, and relaxation. Mainly in the space for mens care. I am known for beard growth and loc maintenance as well as waxing and energy refocusing. I am most proud of pushing the spiritual side of self care. I enjoy making sure that the experience given is changing shifting and encouraging positive energy for each client. What sets me apart from others is I genuinely care for a persons mental health in the process. Intertwining spiritual practices, herbs, and oils that help promote self love clarity and spiritual awakening. I have goals of elevating my small spa to a complete wellness studio, offering skin care, hair care, body health and fitness all in one place. Also with hopes of creating jobs and a safe space for other practitioners to grow their own brand.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is watching showtime at the apollo with my late father before he passed when I was a kid. also the time my mother confided in me my freshman year of high school. She was a single mother and that year for christmas she sat me down and let me know christmas would be different that year. My younger brother was not old enough to understand our situation. She gave me a shoe box that year with tissue paper and money inside. In that moment it showed me her. The woman, the mother, the strength of a woman. That I am sure is what truly sparked my passion for others. My empathy for others, it was her sweet soul shining in the midst of angst. It showed me how strong I can be and still love on others. To this day I tell her how much that moment and her meant to me in that moment. The last thing would be the birth of my daughter. In that moment the world changed, I saw my entire life change. Having a love one can not even image or fathom to explain. I was grown giving birth, however I still felt like a child its the one thing truly grows you up and changes your old ways to new ways.
