Check Out Brittany Richardson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Richardson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from Greenville, SC. I have always been a fashionista ever since I can remember at six years old. I started out building a small business by the name of Vanity Express LLC. Vanity Express LLC was a clothing store for plus-size women but when the pandemic hit I decided to rebrand which I am currently doing with my business. I began to fall in love with building my brand on social media and creating unique content and also becoming an upcoming brand ambassador. I have done modeling for a few small businesses in my hometown. I like to describe myself as a content creator as I continue to build my brand on social media I embrace being a plus-size woman. Growing up it was hard being the “bigger girl” out of the group as I got older I embraced my unique curves and style and I love to create content for women who are plus size and presenting body positivity.

One thing that inspires me to continue to grow my social media content is creating this safe space for women who can relate to and even express themselves through clothing, make-up, or even their hair. I call myself Plush Barbie because I am a plus-size diva who is never afraid of change, I am someone who is not afraid to get uncomfortable to get comfortable. I hope that people can see that through my social media page. A fun fact about me is I love to give back to shelter or feed the homeless as an act of kindness. It makes me feel great to help out with places such as Harvest Hope and I hope to be able to volunteer for many more in the future. I’m also an upcoming public speaker where I love to educate young women about healthcare and financial healthcare to women of color. My goal is to always educate whether it’s through my content or just me attending events to speak to minority women.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road on this journey. My biggest challenge was finding a way to put my talents onto one platform and also trying to find mentors. I had to educate myself and be careful of the type of people who didn’t have my best interest at heart and people who were leading me in the wrong direction. I think it’s important to form your team along the way. Which is something that I am still currently doing. I’m always ready to evolve, but it’s great when you have a team who is willing to evolve and learn with you. I felt that I have so many things I love to do but how can I show my expertise on a platform so I began to grow my Instagram. However, I am still growing and building my platform and learning something new every day on how to be better. If I know I am learning, I know for sure that I’m growing.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Besides being a content creator. I currently work for a bank and I love my job. Something that I am most proud of is being able to help customers find resolutions daily. What sets me apart is my personality, most people remember me as a sweet person who loves to show everyone an act of kindness. I love to treat people like a human because we are all human. We all have flaws but that’s what makes us unique and beautiful in every way.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being a leader and carrying every situation with grace.
