Check Out Coach Danny B.’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coach Danny B..

Hi Coach Danny, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been skating since I was 3 years old, so skating has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It’s more than just something I do, it’s a passion that’s grown with me over the years.

That love for skating is what led me to create DB Presents | A Skate Space. I wanted to take something that’s been a part of my life for so long and turn it into an experience I could share with other people. For me, it’s about more than learning how to skate. It’s about having fun, building confidence, connecting with people, and creating a space where everybody can feel welcome.

Through my work, I want people to experience the joy of skating, whether they’re stepping onto skates for the first time or working to improve their skills. I love being able to share what I’ve learned over the years and help others discover what skating can bring into their lives.

I’m building DB Presents | A Skate Space with a vision to bring people together through skating, create memorable experiences, and keep that love for skating going for generations to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest challenges was starting over and trusting myself enough to build something of my own. I made the decision in August 2025 that I was going to work on building my vision, even before I made it back to Atlanta. I was in Kentucky, but I knew I wanted to come back with a plan and something of my own to work toward.

While I was away, we found a space, developed the feel and identity of the brand, and started putting the pieces together for DB Presents | A Skate Space. The goal was to build something that felt like me and reflected the experience I wanted to create for people. Before I even returned to Atlanta in May 2026, I already had people booked for lessons.

Even with all that preparation, there were still moments when I wondered whether I could really do it on my own and make it work my way. I’d coached at another facility, and I’d had opportunities to skate for Maze, the band known for its connection to Frankie Beverly. But building my own space was a different kind of challenge. This time, I wasn’t just skating or coaching. I was building a business and bringing my own vision to life.

My first lesson in the DB Presents | A Skate Space studio was a special moment because it showed me that all the work we’d done before I got back to Atlanta was worth it. I didn’t do it alone. I had an amazing team helping me bring everything together, and I’m grateful for that.

The journey has taught me that starting over doesn’t mean starting from scratch. Sometimes you have to prepare for where you’re going before you even get there, trust the vision, and take that first step even when you’re not completely sure how everything will turn out.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What makes my work unique is that, for me, skating has always been about more than just being on wheels. I’ve developed my own style. People know me for my smooth skating and my spins, but what means the most to me is helping other people build their confidence, especially the kids!!

We live in a world where people can feel judged for how they look, how they move, or whether they’re good enough at something. I want to always create a space where people can let those worries go, learn at their own pace, have fun, and feel comfortable being themselves.

That’s where the name DB Presents | A Skate Space comes from. It’s a play on the idea of a safe space, a place where you can show up as you are, know you’re going to be taken care of, and feel like you belong. You don’t have to be an expert skater to be part of what we’re building.

Through our Rollin’ Collective community, I want people to know they’re not just signing up for a lesson. They’re becoming part of a community that encourages them, celebrates their progress, and reminds them that they can do things they may not have thought possible.

I’m proud to bring my lifelong love of skating into something that helps people feel more confident, connected, and free. If you come to A Skate Space, my hope is that you leave with more than better skating skills. I want you to leave feeling good about yourself, knowing you have a place where you belong, and ready to keep Rollin’.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice would be to believe in yourself, it may be a cliche, but don’t wait until everything is perfect to get started. Sometimes you’re going to have questions, sometimes you’re going to be scared, and sometimes you’re going to wonder if you can really pull it off. Do it anyway!!

Building something of my own was a different kind of journey. I had to trust my vision, make a plan, and start putting the pieces together even before I made it back to Atlanta. I didn’t have every answer, but I knew what I wanted to build, and I was willing to work toward it.

Another thing I’d say is don’t be afraid to ask for help. Having an efficient team around me has made a difference. You don’t have to do everything by yourself to make your vision a reality.

Most importantly, stay true to yourself. Everybody’s journey is different, and you don’t have to follow somebody else’s path. Be willing to learn, be consistent, and give yourself a chance. Bet on your gifts and talents. You might surprise yourself with what you can accomplish when you stop waiting for the perfect time and start moving toward what you want.
