Eli, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in NYC. Growing up as an orthodox jew, food is a huge part of our culture. My bubby (granma) lived right near my house as a child I used to love cooking with her. Fast forward to (high school) yeshivah part of my life. Food was horrible. I lived away from home at 14 years old, and I started off in Toronto. The school cooks and food were not edible, example for breakfast, they gave us bread, sliced cheese, mayo, cucumbers, and tomato (whole), so I bought knife-cutting board oil spices and started making the traditional Israeli-style salad. Every morning friends started asking me for some, so I decided to start selling it at 25 cents, and from there, I moved on to a school in Iowa. Chef quit one morning with no notice, and we 82 male teenagers were starving, so I started cooking for everyone’s breakfast, lunch, and dinner got my ADHD butt out of class, and from there on, my passion was cooking and making large events. I met my better half in NYC, got married at 22, moved to GA a year after, dabbled in real estate bought a building in College Park. While that was going on at the community synagogue, I was asked to help with food and events, and it turned out I was okay at it 🙂 and from then on, I started ebcateringco, a full-service high-end catering company. From there, I opened up a retail branch and a butcher shop in Atlanta as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. Never smooth in this business. Covid lost all my money. Arggh yes, there were tough times. Food can spoil millions, and one thing can go wrong in a day.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
