Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Aylor.
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my journey over a decade ago after personally struggling with extreme health issues that completely changed my life. On the outside, I looked “healthy” because I was in fitness, but behind the scenes I was dealing with chronic gut issues, severe bloating, hormone dysfunction, digestive pain, metabolic damage, burnout, and constant frustration trying to figure out why my body was breaking down. At one point, my health became so severe that I lost my cycle for over seven years, experienced post-menopausal symptoms in my 20s, developed extreme food sensitivities, and was eventually down to only a few foods I could tolerate. After years of searching for answers, I uncovered deeper root-cause issues including H. pylori, SIBO, mold toxicity, bacterial overgrowth, nervous system dysregulation, chronic stress, and severe metabolic dysfunction that traditional approaches had completely overlooked.
Like many women, I spent years being told my labs were “normal” while I still felt exhausted, inflamed, anxious around food, and stuck in my body. I tried virtually every diet imaginable in search of healing and fat loss — low calorie, excessive cardio, fasting, keto, raw vegan, vegan, fruitarian, carnivore, and everything in between. Instead of helping long term, many of those extremes pushed my body deeper into dysfunction and taught me firsthand how damaging chronic restriction and stress can be on the metabolism, hormones, digestion, and nervous system.
That experience completely changed the direction of my career and ultimately became the foundation of Elizabeth Aylor Fitness.
I earned my degree in Kinesiology, became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), studied holistic nutrition, became a GAPS Practitioner, and continued expanding my education in functional health, metabolism, hormones, gut health, and functional testing. Through both education and personal experience, I began connecting the dots between digestion, inflammation, hormones, stress, metabolism, and body composition. Instead of continuing to punish my body, I focused on rebuilding it from the inside out.
I slowly repaired my metabolism, restored my digestion, rebuilt muscle through strength training, supported my nervous system, improved my hormones, and learned how to truly heal my body in a sustainable way. Over time, I transformed not only my health, but my physique, confidence, energy, and entire life.
Today, I help women who feel frustrated, dismissed, exhausted, and stuck finally uncover the deeper reasons behind stubborn weight gain, bloating, hormone issues, low energy, cravings, digestive dysfunction, and metabolic resistance. My approach combines fitness, nutrition, functional lab testing, gut healing, nervous system support, and sustainable lifestyle changes to help women heal their bodies without extremes.
I’ve now helped thousands of women completely transform their health, body composition, confidence, and quality of life through a root-cause approach. My mission is to show women that their symptoms are not “normal,” healing is possible, and they do not have to stay trapped in the cycle of restriction, burnout, and frustration. Everything I teach comes not only from my professional education, but from having personally lived through the journey myself.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, both personally and professionally. One of the biggest challenges was spending years searching for answers while feeling completely dismissed. I was struggling with severe gut issues, chronic bloating, food sensitivities, hormone dysfunction, fatigue, digestive pain, and metabolic damage, yet I was constantly told everything looked “normal.” There were periods where my body was so inflamed and reactive that I was down to only a few foods I could tolerate. I battled H. pylori, SIBO, mold toxicity, nervous system dysregulation, chronic stress, and severe digestive dysfunction while still trying to show up every day and continue building my business.
Another major challenge was unlearning the extreme fitness and nutrition approaches that are so normalized in the industry. I had tried everything from raw vegan and fruitarian to keto and carnivore, constantly chasing the next answer while unknowingly pushing my body further into dysfunction. I had to learn that healing wasn’t about doing more, restricting harder, or punishing my body with endless cardio and under-eating. It required rebuilding my metabolism, supporting my nervous system, healing my digestion, and learning how to work with my body instead of against it.
Building my business came with its own obstacles as well. There were seasons where I was trying to heal myself while also growing a company, creating content, coaching clients, and continuing my education. Like any entrepreneur, there were moments of self-doubt, and setbacks behind the scenes. But honestly, those challenges became the reason I connect so deeply with the women I work with today. I understand what it feels like to feel stuck, frustrated, dismissed, and exhausted from trying everything.
Looking back, every obstacle ultimately shaped my mission and purpose. The struggles forced me to dig deeper, continue learning, and develop a more root-cause approach that now allows me to help women heal in a way I wish someone had helped me years ago.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the founder of Elizabeth Aylor Fitness, where I specialize in helping women 30+ all the way into their 70s and 80s heal the deeper root causes behind stubborn weight gain, hormone dysfunction, digestive issues, chronic inflammation, fatigue, and metabolic resistance. Many of the women I work with are also navigating complex chronic health conditions such as Hashimoto’s, lupus, Lyme disease, mold illness, autoimmune conditions, MS, chronic gut dysfunction, severe food sensitivities, burnout, and years of failed diets or being dismissed by traditional approaches.
My background includes a degree in Kinesiology, becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), holistic nutrition training, and becoming a certified GAPS Practitioner. I continued expanding my education in gut health, metabolism, hormones, functional nutrition, nervous system regulation, and root-cause healing because I wanted to understand why so many women were struggling despite “doing everything right.”
What truly sets my work apart is that I do not take a surface-level approach to health or fat loss. Many women come to me after years of extreme dieting, overtraining, chronic stress, digestive dysfunction, autoimmune symptoms, hormone imbalances, or being told their labs are “normal” while they still feel exhausted, inflamed, and stuck in their bodies. I focus on looking at the body as an interconnected system and helping women uncover what is actually driving their symptoms instead of simply masking them.
I am especially known for combining functional nutrition, gut healing, metabolism support, strength training, nervous system regulation, and sustainable lifestyle changes into one personalized approach. Rather than pushing restriction, excessive cardio, or extremes, I help women rebuild their metabolism, improve digestion, support hormones, regain strength, build muscle, stabilize energy, and create a body that finally feels safe and supported again. I also utilize functional testing and personalized protocols when appropriate to better understand the underlying imbalances contributing to symptoms.
My work is deeply rooted in personal experience. I personally battled severe gut dysfunction, H. pylori, SIBO, mold toxicity, hormone imbalances, metabolic damage, chronic inflammation, and extreme food sensitivities for years. I tried virtually every diet imaginable — from raw vegan and fruitarian to keto and carnivore — desperately searching for answers while my own health continued to decline. There were times when I was down to only a few foods I could tolerate and felt completely defeated physically and emotionally. Healing myself completely transformed the direction of my career and gave me a level of empathy and understanding that allows me to deeply connect with the women I help today.
What I am most proud of is helping women who had almost lost hope finally feel strong, energized, confident, and alive again. Watching someone who has struggled for years with chronic symptoms finally regain their health, confidence, strength, and quality of life is the most rewarding part of the work I do.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite memories was running my first marathon with my dad when I was 18 years old. That experience taught me so much about discipline, perseverance, mental strength, and the power of pushing through challenges even when things get hard. Crossing that finish line together is something I’ll never forget because it was about so much more than fitness — it was about connection, resilience, and realizing what the human body and mind are truly capable of.
Looking back now, I think that experience shaped a huge part of who I became both personally and professionally. It built my love for fitness, movement, and challenging myself, but it also taught me the importance of consistency, commitment, and showing up even when things are uncomfortable. Those lessons carried over into every area of my life, especially during my own health struggles and while building my business.
