Today we’d like to introduce you to Gia B.
Hi Gia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Gia, a fashion model located in Atlanta and originally from Germany. Growing up, I was inspired by photos and stories from when my mother was a fashion model walking runways and pageants. I grew to love the industry and her work and knew I wanted to be part of it in my own way. I took a risk moving to Atlanta. I dove head first into practicing runway and attending castings, hoping to find my place in the vibrant and fast paced environment. I have had the privilege of working with so many amazing creatives and professionals in the city. I continue to look forward to making new connections and taking advantage of the endless opportunities the Atlanta industry has to offer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m unrepresented and I manage myself. I enjoy being hands on with the direction I want my career to go in. I believe it’s important to be intentional with the bookings that I accept and I like to be sure that I’m always staying true to myself and going for opportunities that align best with my goals, vision, and values. That being said, I’ve had my fair share of experiences where I made uninformed decisions as far as what bookings I accept. It’s part of the process and everything is a learning experience.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Honestly, I think what I’m known for depends on who you ask. People may know me for my motorcycle riding, social media or my work, but I specialize in runway and editorial/print style modeling. I find purpose in being trusted to collaborate with other creatives to create or bring life to ideas and looks. I love to get edgy and explore different concepts. I’m actually hoping to shoot on my motorcycle one of these days. I’m proud to say that I’m starting from the bottom and committed to putting in the time and effort into being the best model I can be. I’ll never stop learning and working to improve my craft. I’m also proud to be branching out into new avenues as well, I recently modeled in a music video for a popular artist and acted in a pilot episode for a new tv series. I think one thing that sets me apart from others is that there’s no ceiling for me and I truly have a passion for doing things scared. I love to step outside of my comfort zone and I’m happily working hard to fulfill as many of my life goals as possible.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that rest and reset is important. Even if I “feel fine”, running on minimal hours of sleep and not prioritizing rest is not sustainable. Burnout is real and it’s important to rest!
