Today we’d like to introduce you to Harmony Kubiak.

Hi Harmony, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was still in my home city of New Orleans, friends would ask me to do makeup for their video projects. After relocating to Atlanta, that ask happened more & more. I also met several people in production, who wanted to hire me as their makeup artist, which led me to working in this industry full time. I’m self taught & 99% of my business is from repeat clients & client referrals, which is a huge honor.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve felt extremely fortunate to have met production folks who I became friends with early on – I feel that helped me on my path. Covid was a struggle. Not knowing if I needed to find a new path was extremely hard, but knowing I survived Hurricane Katrina, I knew it would only be a matter of time before things “went back to normal”.
Currently, the geopolitical climate has impacted production, and many friends are out of work. It’s a scary time for us all.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
In a land of many choices, I feel that I stand out from the rest in my professionalism, my pace of working, my eye for detail, & my 20+ years of experience, making me capable of handling many situations & helping directors & producers have their project run smoothly. I’m known for my light touch, natural makeup, & ability to makeup anyone in my chair feel calm & at home. I love to connect with clients & talent, an ability that brings a sense of comfort to any set.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
It can be considered risky quoting my rate not knowing a project budget. I know my worth & the value I bring to any set; therefore, I set a standard for myself & other artists by quoting & accepting a proper rate for my work.
