Check Out Jasmine Miller’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Miller.

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The back story on where Jazzy Scented Candles LLC started. For a final exam in in business class we had to come up with a business and present it to the class. Jazzy Scented Candles was created with the idea of aromatherapy being at the fore front. Being a person that has dealt with depression and anxiety it is important for men and women to understand the benefits that a candle can bring. Also I really like the idea of helping people. Soon after, my teacher set up an expo for the students that wanted to present their business. Mines being natural candles. So from there I continued making candles outside of school. My mom was my #1 supporter. She was there for different events and even helped me stay encouraged. I started entering events to be a vendor and get my candles out there. But as life went on some personal things happened that had me lose my passion for making candles. Despite it all my mother kept me reminded by how loved I am. Some time went on then she passed in January of 2021. That of course was devastating and took a toll on me completely. As it did for my family. My grandmother and cousin are great attributes to my successes also. They have been by my side through it all as well. Lots of encouragement, words of wisdom, and overall love from them both. In 2023 I created an LLC for my business. That was another proud moment for myself. Especially going through so much and just being there for my family as well. Through all the ups and downs I’ve kept my faith and focused what’s in front of me. On to more adventures, so as of late JSC has been entered into 2 small business expos in hopes of being in connection with other small businesses.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has not always been easy. I can say that some of my earlier challenges were not being motivated and being afraid to push past the hurt I was going through. Some of many ways that help me overcome those fears was music and counseling. At first, I didn’t believe that a therapist could understand what I had gone through without going through it themselves, but as time went on and having my mom is a great source of support. I gave it another shot and saw how helpful it had become. Making candles is very soothing and gives me a sense of peace. I enjoy having my music playing as I craft a homemade candle from the melting of the wax to the customizing of the jars. In 2021 I lost my mom and that was another traumatic experience in life for me and of course, I pulled away from doing candles for quite some time. But something motivated me in 2023 to get my LLC and my EIN number for my business to continue my own legacy and make my mother proud. So I did that and continued to market, post, share and spread the word about Jazzy Scented Candles.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My last job was in customer service. I’d say a lot of my customers loved my personality and the way I showed for everyone around me. Some of the things that I am proud of when it comes to me working is the acknowledgment and recognition I get from a lot of the different customers on the daily. I also appreciate my management acknowledging my skills and talents for whatever task I have at hand. I think what sets me apart from others is being able to be diverse in a lot of different topics also being a problem solver and not allowing situations to linger and affect the working environment.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Idk honestly that’s something to ask those around me
