Today we’d like to introduce you to Je’Nita Lane.
Hi Je’Nita, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started out throwing my children a sweet 16 and 18th birthday party and booking their favorite artist. The event was heavily decorated and featured over-the-top production. Adults saw how nice the party was and wanted to attend. A few months later, I threw an adult party called Soul Sessions Albany Live. I booked Angie Stone to perform at the event. It was a huge success. Since that time, I’ve been hosting concerts, tours and other events. The State Theater is a venue that I frequently booked. I called to book the theater and the owner made an offer to sell it to me. I’ve been the proud owner of J. Lane Theater (renamed) since 2022.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The building required major improvements to the roofing and the exterior of the building.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Manage venues, promote live events, book talent. Most proud of being one of very few female concert promoters. My attention to detail and my focus on high-quality sound and lighting.
