Check Out Joyce Morris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joyce Morris.

Hi Joyce, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story is one of resilience, passion, and purpose. I started my journey as a young single mother determined to create a better future for myself and my daughters. Along the way, I discovered my love for serving others through creativity and entrepreneurship.

As a hairstylist, I found joy in helping people feel confident and beautiful. As a chef, I turned my passion for cooking into an opportunity to bring people together through food and unforgettable experiences. Most recently, I became a first-time author, releasing my first book “The Understudy”, sharing relatable situations and the lessons we learn as women, even men about self-worth, and understanding through life’s challenges in hopes of inspiring others to keep pushing forward, and recognizing their worth.

Every chapter of my journey has been built on faith, perseverance, and the belief that our circumstances do not define our future. Today, I proudly wear many hats: hairstylist, chef, entrepreneur, and author, and I continue to use my experiences to encourage others to pursue their dreams, no matter where they start.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not, it definitely has not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was becoming a young mother and navigating life while trying to build a future for myself and my daughters. I’ve experienced heartbreak, setbacks, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned whether I was capable of achieving the goals I had for my life.

As an entrepreneur, there were times when I had to build with limited resources, wear multiple hats, and learn through trial and error. Whether it was growing as a hairstylist, building my culinary business, or becoming an author, each journey came with obstacles that tested my faith, patience, and perseverance.

However, those struggles became some of my greatest lessons. They taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of believing in myself even when circumstances seemed difficult. Every challenge helped shape the woman I am today, and it’s because of those experiences that I can now inspire others to keep going, no matter what obstacles they face.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Businesses:

Memes Midas Touch: Where I specialize in all types of braid services and loc services

A Taste of Excellence by MeMe: Where I provide weekly meal menus and beverages locally, I also provide catering services for all types of events. I hope to expand to where my services are wanted for private dinners, and many other extravagant engagements.

What I’m most proud of is building multiple businesses while raising my daughters and turning my experiences into something that can encourage and uplift others. Every accomplishment represents perseverance, faith, and a refusal to let difficult circumstances determine my future.

What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t just sell a product or service. I create genuine connections. My work is rooted in passion, resilience, and a desire to make a positive impact. Whether someone sits in my chair, enjoys my food, reads my book, or hears me speak, I want them to leave feeling inspired, valued, and empowered. My journey allows me to connect with people on a deeper level because everything I do comes from real-life experiences, hard work, and a genuine love for serving others.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways people can work with, collaborate with, and support me. As a chef and entrepreneur, I am always open to catering opportunities, food vendor events, community partnerships, brand collaborations, and special events where I can share my passion for food and hospitality. As a hairstylist, I enjoy helping clients look and feel their best while building meaningful relationships within my community.

As a first-time author of my book “The Understudy”, I welcome opportunities to share my story through interviews, podcasts, speaking engagements, community events, and empowerment programs that inspire others to overcome challenges and pursue their goals.

One of the best ways to support me is by supporting my businesses, attending events, purchasing my products, reading and sharing my book, following my journey on social media, and recommending my services to others. Every connection, collaboration, and opportunity helps me continue building a legacy that not only impacts my life and my daughters’ lives but also encourages others to believe in themselves and their dreams.
