Check Out Kalecia Wright’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalecia Wright.

Hi Kalecia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I didn’t begin with a clear plan—I began with a decision to survive.

There was a season in my life where I was functioning, achieving, and showing up for others, but internally I was depleted. Like many women, I had mastered resilience, but had not yet learned how to be whole. The turning point came when I chose—moment by moment—not to abandon myself. That decision became the foundation of what I now call *“Just Don’t Die,”* a lifeline rooted in staying, healing, and rebuilding.

I also identify as a person in long-term recovery, with over 13 years of sobriety. That journey has shaped both my life and my work. In 2017, I self-published my first memoir, *Traveling Grace & Mercy: Memoirs of a Recovering Alcoholic*, as an act of truth-telling—what I now recognize as the beginning of a larger body of work centered on transformation and restoration.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of lived experience and formal training. As a Board Certified Trauma Chaplain with a Master of Divinity, I’ve had the privilege of walking with individuals and families through some of life’s most sacred and difficult moments—experiences that clarified my calling.

I am the founder of Speak Lyfe Nation, where I serve through speaking, coaching, and leadership development, and Speak Lyfe Sanctuary, a nonprofit spiritual community created to support women navigating healing, transition, and second beginnings. Through initiatives like The Ruth Project, I guide women through intentional journeys of restoration.

I am currently preparing to release *Just Don’t Die*, a 366-day devotional, and in January 2027 will release *Fall from Grace*, the second act of my memoir, marking ten years of transformation since my first book.

Where I am today is the result of sustained courage, honest work, and a commitment to build something meaningful from what I’ve lived. Now, I have the privilege of helping others do the same.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not—it has not been a smooth road.

Some of my greatest clarity came through some of my most difficult experiences. One of the defining moments in my journey was being essentially ostracized from a leadership role within a local church community. At the time, I was faced with a choice: conform for the sake of comfort, or remain committed to truth—even when it was inconvenient or unwelcome.

I chose truth.

That decision came with consequences. It was painful, disorienting, and at times deeply isolating. But it also became a turning point. What I lost in position, I gained in clarity. That experience forced me to confront what I truly believed about integrity, leadership, and what it means to create spaces that are genuinely safe for people to show up as they are.

It was in that season that the vision for Speak Lyfe Sanctuary became unmistakably clear.

I realized that many people—especially women navigating healing, faith, and transition—were quietly carrying their stories because there were few spaces where truth was both honored and held with care. I knew I wanted to build something different. Not a space rooted in performance or perfection, but one grounded in honesty, restoration, and spiritual integrity.

There have been other challenges as well—building from the ground up, navigating the weight of leadership, and doing deeply personal work in a public-facing way. None of it has been easy. But every challenge has refined both the mission and my commitment to it.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth—but it has been purposeful. And I wouldn’t trade the clarity that came from those experiences for anything.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is about helping people tell the truth—and rebuild their lives from it.

I specialize in trauma-informed care, spiritual formation, and transformational leadership, but more than that, I create spaces where people no longer have to perform to be accepted. Through Speak Lyfe Nation, I lead through speaking, coaching, and leadership development. Through Speak Lyfe Sanctuary, I’ve built a nonprofit spiritual community where women can heal, process, and begin again—honestly and without pressure to be “put together.”

As a Board Certified Trauma Chaplain, I’ve walked with individuals and families through some of the most critical moments of their lives. That work shaped how I lead. It taught me that real transformation doesn’t happen through inspiration alone—it requires safety, structure, and truth.

That’s what I’m known for: telling the truth in a way that creates movement. Not just something that sounds good, but something that actually shifts people.

What I’m most proud of is building what I once needed but couldn’t find. Speak Lyfe Sanctuary exists because I experienced firsthand what it feels like to be in spaces where truth is not always welcomed. I made a decision to create something different—a space rooted in integrity, healing, and spiritual honesty.

What sets me apart is that my work is not theoretical. It’s lived, it’s studied, and it’s built. I don’t just speak about transformation—I’ve done the work, I hold the space, and I’ve created the structures to walk others through it.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is truth—because everything meaningful is built from it.

For a long time, I understood what it meant to function without fully confronting what was real. And I’ve seen, both personally and through my work, how avoiding truth—whether emotional, spiritual, or practical—keeps people stuck in cycles of survival.

Truth creates clarity. Clarity creates choice. And choice creates the possibility for real change.

That’s why everything I build—whether through Speak Lyfe Nation, Speak Lyfe Sanctuary, or my work as a chaplain—is rooted in creating spaces where people can be honest without fear of judgment or rejection. Because when people are finally safe enough to tell the truth, that’s when healing can begin, decisions can shift, and lives can be rebuilt with intention.

What also matters deeply to me is integrity—being aligned in what I say, what I do, and what I create. I’ve learned that it’s not enough to speak about transformation; it has to be lived, modeled, and structured in a way that others can access.

At the core, what matters most is creating spaces where people don’t have to perform to belong—and where they can begin again, truthfully and fully.
