Check Out Karina Escoto-Garcia’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Escoto-Garcia.

Karina Escoto-Garcia

Hi Karina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started baking after my daughter was born when I was having a really tough time supporting what was eventually diagnosed as a level 2 autistic disorder. As a first-time mom, everything was so new to me. I needed a creative outlet to release some stress and to just provide some level of distraction and baking was just that. I didn’t know anything about it, though. I’ve created all my recipes through trial and error and by learning from others. I had so many family and friends encourage me to start documenting all of these tasty recipes that I decided to start an Instagram page to share the things I bake with the world. Social media imaging and strategy was another thing I had to learn. I threw myself into learning filming techniques and learning how to run my social media accounts. Not only was I learning how to bake, I was learning to be a full-on content producer and social media manager. Slowly but surely, our community has grown to over 60K followers across multiple platforms. Thankfully, karinabakeswithlove is two years old, and I have had the opportunity to meet so many great people and work with wonderful companies creating delicious recipes. My platform and website continue to grow, and I am excited to continue to learn and grow myself. I am enjoying sharing recipes with so many people in the hopes they will enjoy it as much as I do and can share it with their loved ones.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I had to learn so much, not only about developing recipes but also about how to create engaging and fun content. As a food content creator, I learned about how to properly light and stage an area in order to highlight the best features of whatever new recipe I’m sharing. I also learned about finding an effective posting schedule, that matches the viewing patterns of those who like your content the most. It’s definitely been challenging and at times, overwhelming trying to learn so many new things, but I have enjoyed it. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to not compare myself to others or do things other successful creators are doing just because they’re popular and to just remember the real reason why I am doing this: and that is to share recipes I love so that people can enjoy them at home with their loved ones.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a recipe developer and content creator for my platform karinabakeswithlove as well as karinabakeswithlove.com. I create easy recipes anyone can enjoy from the comfort of their own home. I am most proud of the connections I have made from people who I have met through my recipes and how they share their stories about making recipes with their families.

I’m not much different from anyone else! I try to focus on straightforward recipes that look pretty and taste yummy. Maybe that’s what sets me apart – my kitchen isn’t super aesthetically pleasing, my videos have gotten better with time (way better lol), and I’m always open to learning and collaborating with accounts and organizations that inspire me!

How do you think about happiness?
There are many things that bring me a lot of joy but seeing people try my recipes and seeing them enjoy making something with their own hands makes me so happy. Even when people message me needing help with instructions or anything, I love helping them and engaging the power of baking. I also love watching my daughter try new foods and explore different ingredients with me in the kitchen. I never show her face, but every now and again, a little toe or pinky makes it onto a post.
