Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Regas.
Hi Kim, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My road to becoming an interior designer all started with my love for pretty. I was bound to end up somewhere striving to bring beauty into the lives of others. After studying communications and interior design, I went into advertising for a few year, which gave me the business chops to start my own interior design firm in 1999, after the birth of my second child. 26 years later, that baby girl now works for me in our ADAC Design Center office.
Regas Interiors is a full-service design firm that has been offering upscale residential design to the greater Atlanta area for over 25 years. I feel blessed to have built a thriving business out of personal gifts discovered in college design classes. I’ve always sought to focus my God-given talents toward making a difference in the homes and lives of others through close collaboration with my clients—always aiming to deliver above and beyond their expectations. I recognize that many of a family’s most cherished memories take place in their own living spaces. To be a small part of that journey is a privilege I don’t take lightly.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The primary (wonderfully rewarding) struggle was raising a family of three small children while building a business. Those early years were enormously challenging, always seeking the balance between being a great mom and effective business owner. Now, with three adult-aged children and a successful business, it appears the blood, sweat, tears, and prayers were well-spent!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an interior designer, I have always specialized in residential work. I never felt drawn to corporate design because I want the work I do to become a part of people’s stories. I am invited into personal relationships in personal spaces. These lasting relationships are what become most rewarding. Seeing a client fall in love with work of which I am very proud is a wonderful moment. I also think these relationships are a part of what sets my firm apart. Lots of designers can do amazingly beautiful work. That’s important to me too, but it doesn’t supersede the importance of creating lasting personal relationships with the people I do the work for.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I strive to stay engaged with all the industry avenues I can, from online resources to personal connections. With that said, I don’t have any specific resources I’d pull out at this moment.
