Hi Leonardo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Leonardo/Lenny. I’m a photographer based in Atlanta. I first started doing this when I was 14 helping my dad record videos and even editing those videos cause I was taught myself. My camera slowly became my everything as I went homeless my senior year of HS. Even so I was always taking pictures or always thinking about a bigger perspective and how I can show raw human emotion despite the facade and mask we put on socials. From the start of a project called Serendipity and how it demonstrates the change in us humans overtime as the seasons progress and we evolve with them. I got wind of a fashion show with Chique Drouge by Ayden and his team. It was my first time at a show so I gave it my all there and met amazing people like Ayden, Saint, and others.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Someone told me once “If your dream was easy, it wouldn’t be a dream at all” The beginning of a journey is always the hardest. I remember being homeless and living in a basement of friend and then a person my mom knew. It was the loneliest I’ve ever been. Wanting to create so many ideas but being far away from family and friends. The loneliness killed old versions of me and only kept seeing my dream of my work being known to spark conversation, love, and healing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in photography and cinematography. I would say I’m known for bringing an unexpected image to light with no equipment. Currently, I’m proud and the fact that one of my pictures is being used for a cover for an artist song as well as my work being spread around through other’s art. All these new experiences and the aspects of learning help me get to experience new unprecedented heights I never thought would be possible along my journey. I’m a quiet individual who wants to take feelings we’ve locked away and bring them to the surface. I say the quietest individual feels the most despite not ever saying anything in the world full of mask and I want everybody to be aware that it’s OK to feel and be present and do as you please, and not put on a mask the whole time. Go release and always create and go for what you dream of and make those dreams reality because your dreams fuel your reality.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
my drive as well as my logging to connect myself not only with others, but also connect to community sense to make other people question. I want to have a conversation about how they truly feel and be able to show it through a cinematic vision. I also feel like another characteristic that I have is seeing things from a different perspective. I never wanna see things from the same perspective as others because I feel like we all get tired of seeing the same old same old thing. We want to see the unexpected something that gives love, clarity, and compassion. We’re missing more and more of this as we progress in life.
