Check Out Neil Tunstall’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Neil Tunstall.

Hi Neil, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am Neil Tunstall a son, brother, student, uncle, and follower of Jesus Christ. I am a life long resident of Georgia but more specifically I grew up in the Stockbridge and Hampton Areas of metro Atlanta. I am the youngest of 4 Children and the product of two amazing parents, Miriam and Nicholas Tunstall. My family is natives of South Georgia who instilled in my siblings and I the importance of a relationship with God and always doing what is right. I had a slightly challenging childhood due to suffering from sickness and health challenges but God seen me through! Ever since I could remember my mother has been a real champion for her children’s education. She always told me ” The more you learn the more you earn and the better you can live” I figuratively tattooed that on my heart and took off full speed to secure my success through authenticity and education. I have always been a great student amid having to start school a year late due to my birthdate, I could not afford to let that hold me back . The people that God sent to me have always been a great motivation in my life. I would list them all but to save myself the embarrassment of forgetting someone I am not going to lol. Since I was a child I was always told that my charisma and my character will take me far and that great things are expected of me. I guess they were not lying though, in high school I was crowned Prom Prince my junior year, Homecoming King my Senior year, and then Prom King my senior year as well. These positive affirmations lit a fire in me that came with a great amount of personal pressure that I placed on myself. I have learned to channel the pressure and great expectations into the driving force for the change I want to make in the world through Healthcare and Healing.

My passion for healthcare and humility have stemmed from my raising and my life experiences. I have the dream of becoming a C-Suite Healthcare Executive that drives strategic data driven and Holy Spirit Lead change that caters to the ending of human suffering. The magnificent healthcare providers that I have had contact with are the reason I know this can be achieved. I was blessed to recieve a full ride scholarship under the Bonner Office of Community Service at Morehouse College during my senior year of High School , this scholarship has been one of my biggest blessings in life because it granted me access to Higher Education without the burden of worrying about how I’d pay for it. This scholarship has instilled in me the importance of Civic Engagement and Servant Leadership. Since becoming a Man of Morehouse and soon to be a Morehouse Man I can’t be anything but grateful for my journey. My friends and family have been a driving force for my achievements. My work with the American Red Cross stemmed from a good friend of mine suffering from sickle cell anemia which is a disease that mostly effects African Americans. With that in mind I have used my influence on campus to host various successful Blood Drives on my HBCU campus, and let me tell you it has not been easy! I am a firm believer in anything worth having is worth working for, and saving lives is definitely worth working for. My internships with SAP, a enterprise resource planning software company, Singleton Consulting, and my local government work are all extensions of my passions as a human. I was sent to this earth to serve and that is exactly what I plan to do until my last breath. These past couple of years have not been the easiest for me at all, suffering losses that I could have never forseen and going through things I never could imagine but I am still here! As I enter my senior Bright Eyed and Thankful to Jesus for allowing me to live to see every day that I do, I will never forget where I came from and who helped me along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When I was a child I suffered a lot from sickness due to severe allergies, I was often in the hospital and doctor’s office. I remember a 10 year period of my life where I had to get 3 allergy shots EACH WEEK! Can you imagine doing that as a child? Young Neil was a true warrior for embracing that challenge and seeing it through so that I may live the healthy life I do now. This all took place during my latter elementary school years, middle school years, and early high school months.

During this time I was also bullied lol. Due to the medicine and it’s ingredients I gained weight and was teased for it, but that gave me an unbreakable spirit and a soul that held on tight to what I knew and that was that trouble doesn’t last always, brighter days are always ahead. I never let what was said about me get to me at all, I remained a humble and grateful youngman.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently a intern at SAP, a enterprise resource planning software company that specializes in helping organizations operate at maximum efficiency with the help of solution oriented minded strategists and AI. I am also an intern at Singleton Consulting where we specialize in high level problem solving for various sectors of business and politics. I was also head of operations for a Candidate for State senate Hampton GA and I was also an intern under Bryce Berry who is a State House Represenative for District 56. Moreover I am also a Bonner Scholar serving on the Leadership Team as Alumni Engagement Coordinator,Target Scholar, and an HBCU Ambassador for the American Red Cross. I am known to be a leader that is lead by conviction and not just self-ambition. Everything I do is catered towards helping people in one way or another. I am also known to be somewhat of a character, in a good way, I am often times called hilarious and “unreal” lol. I am most proud of my work with the American Red Cross, the impact that I am able to have through their Sickle Cell Initiative under Direct Micah Holliman is truly inspiring to me and something that I hold very near and dear to my heart. I think what sets me apart from others is I do not see competition, I am a firm believer in what is for me will be for me. Most of the positions I have are because people have recommended me for them and they hold me in high regard. I truly allow for my reputation to precede me in the most positive light possible.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for those who are just starting out is get in good with God early! We cannot do anything without him and his guidance. I am brought back to a scripture in the bible Proverbs 16:9, ” A man’s heart deviseth his way: But the LORD directed his steps” this is a constant prayer of mine! I pray to always be in alignment with the will that Jesus has for me on this earth.

Something that I wish I knew when I was starting out is that fear is not real! What you feel before a big event or decision in your life is not fear but it is your body getting acclimated to the task that you have stepped up to! God would not bring us to anything he would not see us through! Also I would advise younger people on the art of slowing down and being present in the moment. A lot of times we get caught up in what is to come or what is that we forget that we are living in a prayer that we once prayed! I thank God for allowing me to see the beauty in living in the moment.
