Check Out Pat Fiorello’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pat Fiorello.

Hi Pat, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Few people would have predicted that the little girl who dreaded third-grade art class—mainly because she couldn’t stand hearing her teacher constantly remind everyone to “clean up the paints”—would one day become an internationally recognized artist. Yet Pat Fiorello’s path has never followed a predictable script.

Before ever picking up a paintbrush professionally, Pat built a successful career in the corporate world. Armed with an MBA from Harvard Business School, she spent two decades as a marketing executive, serving in Vice President roles with Nabisco and The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta. Art wasn’t part of the plan—until a vacation at age 35 reignited a creative spark she hadn’t realized was waiting. By 43, she made the bold decision to leave corporate life behind and pursue painting full-time.

That leap of faith transformed into an extraordinary second act. Today, Pat’s work is collected around the world and has been featured in more than 100 juried exhibitions. She has inspired artists internationally through workshops across Italy, France, Spain, New Zealand, and even at Monet’s Garden, one of the most iconic artistic destinations in the world.

A passionate traveler, Pat translated her love of art and exploration into her book, Bella Italia, Italy Through the Eyes of an Artist, featuring more than 80 paintings inspired by the landscapes, architecture, and culture of Italy.

Pat Fiorello’s story is proof that creativity can emerge in unexpected places—and that it’s never too late to trade the boardroom for a brush and build a life around passion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The life of an artist is not a straight linear path like some other careers. There are many definitions of success and many ways to get there. In the beginning there was a lot of trial and error pursuing different opportunities to show and sell my work. Some were effective, some not so much. With experience, you learn what you enjoy doing and find worth your time, what you want to let go of and what you want to do more of. And that has changed over the past 20 years.

In terms of the art- making itself, you have to have the mindset of a lifelong learner. There are always more opportunities to learn and grow. Not every painting will turn out to be a winner, but that’s part of the creative process. You have to have a mindset of wonder and exploration. I wonder if I tried this…. “Failures” are part of the learning process, but sometimes you forget that and can get discouraged. Fortunately passion, a hunger for learning, supportive friends and your own love of painting pick you up if you get off track.

As you grow in your skill, the bar rises. You know more, so you expect more. As the French Impressionist Degas said, “Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
