Hi Qui, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Some artists find music. For QuiTheLastWord, music was always there written into his bloodline long before he ever stepped into a booth.
Born Troy Jackson in South Jamaica, Queens, New York, QUI came into the world with rhythm in his DNA. Both of his parents each carrying the Jackson name — were Queens natives who performed in separate music groups throughout the 1970s. Growing up the youngest of four brothers in one of New York’s most storied neighborhoods, QUI was surrounded by a culture that didn’t just appreciate music; it lived it.

he released his first full single, “Top Notch” an introduction to the world that hinted at everything to come. But that same year brought unimaginable loss. On September 11, 2001, QUI’s brother a firefighter serving with Unit 252 in Brooklyn gave his life in the line of duty. A hero among thousands lost that day. The grief was profound, and for a time, the music quieted. But QUI came back.

he returned with a mixtape alongside his group Industry Free Agents, followed by a second project, he was lending his voice to broader projects, recording “Move It” for Defined Minds, a vocabulary and SAT-prep initiative combining a book and CD. The recording session caught the attention of Channel 2 News, who came out to document the work.

QUI embarked on a relentless stretch of performances, showcases, and tours that took him across Queens, New York City, Maryland, and North Carolina. He commanded stages at well-known venues including Club Amuzura, Karma, and the Times Square Art Center, and performed at events hosted by local politicians and community leaders. The momentum was undeniable.

QUI released the visual for “Destiny” arguably his most beloved record and a perennial crowd favorite that continues to move audiences wherever it plays. Alongside “Hands Up” and “Slide,” QUI has built a catalog of anthems that keep fans on their feet and coming back for more.
His sound carries the weight of real life loss, perseverance, purpose and the energy of an artist who has never stopped moving forward. Rooted in Queens, shaped by sacrifice, and driven by something greater than ambition, QUI isn’t just chasing success. He’s living his Destiny.

Now, after years of growth and reflection, QUI is ready to make his presence felt again. 2026 marks his highly anticipated return to the music scene a comeback fueled by a matured artistry, an undeniable hunger, and a sound that the industry has been desperately missing. In a landscape crowded with trends and imitation, QUI arrives as the real thing: an authentic voice with lived experience, generational talent, and the drive to remind the world exactly what music is supposed to feel like.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not , my struggle were everything the music industry is about. Trusting ppl find the right beat. Find a good engineer. Even perfecting the craft. This game is definitely and build as u go. And you gotta have tough skin and patience. Those 2 you definitely need. Cause ppl u think gonna be there will disappoint and disappear at any time

I’m a music artist/designer/ entrepreneur and all around creator.
I’m proud of the work I put in and the results that came back. The thing that set me apart is that I can see things before it happens and feel this as well. Gift and a curse

What do you like and dislike about the city?
My city is culture the Mecca of all things
From top to bottom. I and my city you will never go anywhere else and find this type of energy.
