Hi Shyheim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey began with a passion for music and creativity more than 15 years ago. What started as recording music and learning the creative process evolved into a lifelong commitment to the arts. Over the years, I developed skills in recording, audio engineering, songwriting, videography, and content creation while building my own brand as an independent artist and entrepreneur.

Through dedication and consistency, I have released over 100 songs and 10 albums, performed at festivals, opened for established artists, and earned recognition for my work. Along the way, I realized I wanted to create opportunities not only for myself but for other creatives in my community.

Today, I am the owner of Carolina Made Studios, a recording studio in Durham, North Carolina. I built the studio from the ground up with the goal of providing professional-quality recording services at an affordable rate for independent artists. The studio has already hosted dozens of recording sessions and serves as a creative hub for musicians, engineers, photographers, and videographers.

My story is one of persistence, growth, and investing in my craft. What began as a personal passion has grown into a business that allows me to support other artists, create opportunities for young creatives, and contribute to the creative culture of my community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The path has been great. Constantly meeting new people who are energetic about the art always is a plus for me.

I am a recording artist, audio engineer, entrepreneur, and studio owner with more than 15 years of experience in the creative industry. Throughout my career, I have specialized in music production, recording, songwriting, audio engineering, videography, and artist development. As an independent artist, I have released over 100 songs and 10 albums while building a brand that has allowed me to perform at festivals, open for established artists, and earn recognition for my work.

One of my proudest accomplishments is building Carolina Made Studios from the ground up in Durham, North Carolina. What began as a vision has grown into a professional creative space that serves musicians, engineers, photographers, videographers, and other creatives in my community. The studio has already hosted dozens of recording sessions and provides affordable access to professional-quality equipment and services for independent artists.

I am also proud of the opportunities I have created for others. Through mentorship, internships, and collaboration, I have helped emerging artists gain access to resources, knowledge, and professional experiences that can be difficult to find. My goal has always been bigger than my own success—I want to create pathways for the next generation of creatives.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine creativity with entrepreneurship. I am not only an artist but also a business owner who understands how to build systems, create opportunities, and bring ideas to life. Whether I am producing music, engineering a session, managing a studio, or mentoring young creatives, I approach every project with dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence. My work reflects both my passion for the arts and my desire to make a lasting impact in my community.
