Today, we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Edmonds.
Hi Whitney, We’re so excited to have you on the platform. Before we ask about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a performer. I was extremely shy as a child, but acting and dancing quickly gave me confidence and a passion. I got involved in classes any way I could. Eventually, after years of training, I found a love for teaching performing arts. After a few years teaching and directing, I decided to pursue a career in acting full-time.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are many challenges when pursuing a career in entertainment. The odds are very much against you. A small example of a challenge I face is being introverted & shy. I may seem outgoing onstage or in front of a camera, but constantly trying to build connections in this industry is very challenging for me.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actress, dancer, and director. I am currently pursuing acting full-time.
When I am not on set or auditioning, I am teaching acting and dance. As much as I love performing myself, I feel very blessed to have opportunities to teach the next generation of performers and create a safe and encouraging environment for them.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I feel my entire career in itself is a risk. I left a stable day job and decided to pursue acting full time. It can be scary not to have the stability I once had, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take. If I never try, it’ll never happen.
