Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris “Iamcity” Mungin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Chris “City” Mungin, entrepreneur, media personality, and founder of Pulse 101.3. My journey has never followed a traditional path. I’ve spent years building businesses, working in property management, and finding ways to create opportunities not only for myself but for others around me.
Throughout my career, I’ve always been passionate about communication, community, and helping people tell their stories. I noticed that many talented individuals, small businesses, independent artists, and content creators lacked access to platforms that would amplify their voices. That realization inspired me to launch Pulse 101.3 in January 2025.
What started as a vision quickly became a growing digital radio station dedicated to being “The Heartbeat of the Community.” Today, Pulse 101.3 reaches listeners across the country and provides a platform for music, news, business spotlights, entertainment, and meaningful conversations through shows like Big Talk With City.
Building the station hasn’t been without challenges. Like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced obstacles, setbacks, and moments where I had to trust the process. But those experiences taught me resilience, leadership, and the importance of staying committed to your purpose.
Today, I’m proud of what we’ve built, but I’m even more excited about what’s ahead. My goal is to continue growing Pulse 101.3 into a recognized media platform that creates opportunities, informs the community, and inspires others to pursue their dreams. For me, success isn’t just about building a brand it’s about leaving a legacy and creating something that positively impacts people long after I’m gone.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been building something from the ground up with limited resources. When I launched Pulse 101.3, I was taking a leap of faith into an industry that is constantly changing. There were moments when I had to wear multiple hats owner, engineer, marketer, salesperson, host, and problem solver all at the same time.
Another challenge has been educating people about internet radio. Many people are familiar with traditional radio, but building credibility and growing an audience in the digital space requires consistency, patience, and a long-term vision. There were times when growth felt slow, technology failed, or plans didn’t go as expected, but those moments taught me how to adapt and keep moving forward.
Managing a growing platform while balancing other businesses and personal responsibilities has also required a great deal of discipline. I’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding obstacles it’s about finding solutions and staying committed when things get difficult.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that every challenge has a purpose. The setbacks, long nights, and unexpected hurdles have helped shape both me and the station into what we are today. Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey because those experiences built the foundation for the growth we’re seeing now and the vision we have for the future.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Pulse 101.3 is a digital radio station based in Douglasville, Georgia, built on the belief that everyone deserves a platform and a voice. Our mission is to be “The Heartbeat of the Community” by delivering a dynamic mix of music, news, business spotlights, politics, entertainment, and real conversations that matter to everyday people.
What sets Pulse 101.3 apart is that we’re more than just a radio station we’re a community platform. We provide opportunities for local businesses, entrepreneurs, independent artists, content creators, and aspiring radio personalities to share their stories and connect with audiences in ways that traditional media often overlooks.
Since launching in January 2025, we’ve grown into a platform reaching thousands of listeners through our mobile app and online streaming services. Our programming includes a variety of live shows, interviews, community discussions, and features such as Business Spotlight, where we highlight local businesses and entrepreneurs making an impact.
What I’m most proud of is the culture we’ve created. Pulse 101.3 has become a place where people can learn, grow, network, and be heard. We’ve built a platform that celebrates authenticity, supports local talent, and encourages meaningful dialogue.
As we continue to grow, our goal remains the same: to inform, inspire, entertain, and create opportunities while staying true to our mission of being The Heartbeat of the Community.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is simple: start before you feel ready. Too many people spend years waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect plan, or the perfect amount of money. The truth is, most successful businesses and brands are built by people who took action despite uncertainty.
I would also tell anyone starting out to stay consistent. Success rarely happens overnight. There will be times when it feels like no one is paying attention, no one is supporting your vision, or your efforts aren’t producing immediate results. Keep going. Consistency compounds over time.
One thing I wish I knew earlier is that relationships are just as important as talent. Networking, building genuine connections, and surrounding yourself with positive, like-minded people can open doors that hard work alone sometimes cannot.
I also learned that you don’t have to do everything by yourself. Building a team, asking questions, and learning from others can accelerate your growth and help you avoid unnecessary mistakes.
Most importantly, don’t let fear of failure stop you. Every setback contains a lesson. Some of my greatest opportunities came after things didn’t go according to plan. Stay focused on your purpose, trust the process, and remember that success is a marathon, not a sprint.
If I can leave people with one thing, it’s this: bet on yourself. Your vision was given to you for a reason, and the only way to find out what’s possible is to take the first step.
