Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Peacock.
Hi Derek, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was finishing college and a rapper walked up to me with some bad cd artwork and told him I could help. But a cd design for a friend in college. After that, I am starting designing and printing up CDs. The funny thing was I sold mixtapes in high school. Anyway, I got involved with the music industry in graphic design and started printing because it was so hard to be just a graphic and web designer. So now, my business offers printing, graphic design, and web development.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has never been smooth at all. I struggle for many years. I joined networking groups, the chamber of commerce and also other business networking groups. You do get to network and make money, but I have made most of my money off search engines like Google and Bling. I remember one time it was so hard that I couldn’t even pay my cellphone bill but put gas in the car. Overall learned a lot.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We print flyers, business cards, brochures, CD inserts and CD/DVD duplications, banners, stickers, and booklets the same day. We have a design it yourself system for clients who want to do their own prints. We even offer apparel printing from 612printing.com.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Music, I started doing my own music, promoting my own cd and others started asking where I got my CDs from.
