Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabel Moore.
Hi Isabel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I opened The Reverie at 20, fresh off a stint traveling through Central America teaching yoga and selling jewelry. I’d been training for owning a shop longer than I realized—I was raised in thrift stores, hunting for hidden gems to wear, rework, and resurrect. Over the years, my love of sewing, repairing, and collecting only deepened, eventually forming what is now The Reverie.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I launched The Reverie with a nearly negative bank balance and a stupid amount of blind faith, and grew it into something people truly connect with. Raised by a tenacious single mother and my Basque great-grandmother, I learned resilience firsthand. My work ethic and persistence are, without question, inherited.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Reverie is a high-femme antique and vintage clothing store. I’m proud to say we are the only store open to the public in Georgia that has a large selection of antique clothing- size inclusive too, *wink wink*. We’re known for our feminine 1930s slips, Edwardian lawn dresses, all the way to our grandma’s boudoir inspired decor.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I can’t call it luck. I am beyond blessed. It seems as though everything in my life has happened at the most serendipitous timing possible. That mixed with working 14+ hour days makes for a very successful biz- haha!
