Community Highlights: Meet Jason Accilien of Heart2Heart Sonography LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Accilien.

Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I work in the medical field as an Echocardiographer. When i was 19yrs old i was a college dropout living at home in Miami where im from originally. I got a job as a security guard and after flunking out of college which was also the end of my football career i had no idea what i was doing with my life or what direction to go in. Two years later still working as a security guard and still living at home my father finally kicked me out of the house and i still has no idea where i what i was going to do or how i would survive on my own. I found ultrasound via a high school ex-girlfriend of mine who still lived in my neighborhood. She saw me looking depressed the day my father kick me out on my own and told me everything would be ok and that my dad loves me. I asked her what her mother did for a living and she told me ultrasound. That was 2005 and 21yrs later i am a registered cardiac sonographers who has worked all over the country in different states with 19yrs of experience and now running a business in atlanta,ga opening the door for anyone to come to me and get ultrasound training and be able to become a full fledged legit ultrasound tech that will be qualified to work any medical setting without having to pay thousands of dollars to go to school for it like i did. I opened the door for people that’s making 50k/yr and under to make over 90k to over 100k by getting on the job training from my company.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Finding people in the hospital taking a chance on you and giving you a job with no experience and with no board registry. Not being able to qualify to take the board registry without any work experience. And worst of all people in the medical field who are unwilling and refuse to train you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I created a system in the medical field that currently doesn’t exist. I have created a world of ultrasound where patients get their ultrasound exams done as a concierge service without needing a doctor’s order. It’s a cash on demand service for ultrasound primarily Adult and pediatric Echocardiograms, Vascular ultrasound , general ultrasound and OB. Simultaneously teaching people who desire to pursue this career without having to go to college for it. I created a system for patients and primary care physicians to be able to do telehealth visits remotely and physicians are able to see their patients exams remotely from a computer without having to schedule an inpatient appointment.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the beauty of the city of Atlanta. All the historical sites and all the buisness growth in atlanta since i moved to the atl in 8/2007.

What i dislike the most is the laziness, ignorance and excuses of my people in the black community in atlanta. I never knew black people didn’t want to or even want to try to work together. I first learned that about black culture when i moved to Atlanta. Miami is my birthplace and until i moved to Atlanta miami was all i really knew about black people. And black people down in dade county we are just not like the black people in atlanta. We will help each other in miami. Im not saying all black people in Atlanta are bad because i would be a fool to say so because i have met some good ones. For me its just all the years i been living in Atlanta i met more black people that will hate on you and stab you in the back and smile in your face and then wonder why they can’t get ahead in life and i think that’s a shame.
