Community Highlights: Meet JT Faccone of Through Your Lens Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to JT Faccone.

Hi JT, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was nine years old, I begged my parents, friends, and anyone else who would listen for one specific Christmas gift. Everyone that would listen to me knew that I wanted a digital camera. Flash foward two years, my tiny-but-mighty neon blue Canon PowerShot, powered by two Double A batteries, followed me everywhere I went. When I was gifted my first professional-grade camera at thirteen years old, my passion remained the same: capturing life’s everyday moments from the eyes of those who’ve lived them. This is why Through Your Lens exists today.

Over the past ten years, I’ve offered photography services to friends and family, allowing me to capture life’s greatest moments and freeze them in time. I believe strongly that the best person to tell someone’s story is them, and being able to encapsulate emotions into my photos is my goal for each of my projects.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The creation of Through Your Lens was by no means a smoothy road. Somehow, it was equally the most exciting and more terrifying thing I’ve done. Though I had the experience through hundreds of freelance projects, putting myself out there publicly made me doubt if I even knew how to power my camera on. I was in a bubble of my inner thoughts that focused on fear of failure, looking unqualified, or not being able to live up to (mostly my own) expectations. Though the road was bumpy and kind of felt like I was rolling head-first down a cobblestone sidewalk, Through Your Lens allows me to make a difference in the lives of others. The reward of capturing someone’s blink-of-an-eye moment forever makes the cobblestone sidewalk feel like a freshly paved highway.
